My girlfriend was giving me a back-rub the other day, when she felt this strange hard part behind my left shoulder. It feels like I'm growing armor plate or something. The area is pretty small, but is reddish, and I can see blood vessels. I'm not sure what is going on, but I'm not keen to become Colossus from X-men, or whatever. Does anyone know what it is?

Without seeing it, it is a little hard for me to tell what exactly it is, but I have a few questions for you: it is raised? Does it hurt to the touch or does it hurt when there is pressure applied? Do you feel soreness when you move your arms around? Is there any variation in color in it (lighter at the sides, darker in the middle)?
