I am just now in my 36th week of pregnancy with my first. I have felt tightening in my abdomen area but not sure if it's contractions. I have to go to non-stress tests twice a week and yesterday they said I was having contractions but I never felt anything.

If they were concerning, they would have kept you. As long as they don't get too painful or too close together, you should be fine. One more week you are considered full term, so if baby decides to come then, s/he should be fine.
