Hi

My cycles fluctuate from 28 to 42 days so when I got a positive opk on 9th April and blood work showed HCG at 90 and progesterone at 14 on 22nd April
we were thrilled. But the doctor order more bloodwork on 24th April which showed progesterone at 26 and HCG at 267. Are these good numbers? My doctor said she expected HCG to be a lot higher??????? Internet research showed that HCG should double at 48hrs so I don't understand why the doctor is not happy with the HCG. At a time when there should be no unnecessary stress............it would be nice to get other opinions

I don't understand that either.

If you had the bloodwork done 12 days after your first positive opk, you should have been 10 days past ovulation. A beta of 90 then is really good. And it seemed to increase well within the normal range.

Did you ask her why she wasn't happy with these numbers?

I say Congrats!! You are definitely pregnant!! Try to relax and enjoy!!

I don't see anything wrong with those numbers. Did you let them know when your positive opk was. A lot of doctors just assume that your period was already due so then it should be higher. That's about what my first and second betas were and my doctor thought they were awesome numbers.

Yes, the doctor actualy had done a vaginal ultrasound on the 10th
and had found the follicle which had not burst yet. I told the dr. then about the positive opk on the 9th. It was funny because after dh got home on the 10th I told him we had doctor's orders to bd because of the follicle that was yet to release the egg.

she said that the hcg should be higher and she put me on 100mg x twice a day progesterone since i was feeling tired and she said the 200 mg daily progesterone would make me less tired. This is our first pregnancy so we want to be sure we can enjoy a healthy pregnancy. The doctor said the hcg was not too high and could be a blighted ovum????? how can one know with 2 betas

He can't know with just two betas. Like I said, my hcg was about the same as yours and I have a healthy 3 month old. As long as it is doubling properly there isn't any reason to worry.
