headaches with vision loss
Posted: 07-13-08 00:50am

I am a healthy 25 year old. In the past I was diagnosed with a heart condition called palpitations.. not too serious and it was treated successfully. Since I was about 13 or so I have had frequent headaches with the main pain on the right side of my head. It's a pretty extreme pain that can sometimes leave me in bed, or unable to open my eyes at all.. These headaches have got more frequent in the past 4 months and the pain on the side of my head has got much worse. Three times I have lost vision in my right eye for periods of time ranging from 1 minute to 10 minutes.. It always comes back, but the last time I lost my vision I also became very dizzy. I am going to the doctor very son, but it also scares me to know what might be worng. I've heard all kinds of things from it could be migranes.. tumors.. or even just a side effect of my birth control. If anyone has had any similar experiences or know someone who has, any and all advice would be grealy appreciated. Thank you in advance

Do you feel the headache near the base of the skull in the back of the head, above and just forward of the ear, and/or, usually a bit above and behind the eyeball itself?
Are you experiencing double vision before or after the headache?
Is the feeling of dizziness lasting from 5 minutes to an hour?
Do you find difficult to walk?
Have you experienced paralysis on one side of the body and have felt tingling on one or both sides of the body?
Is this headache attack usually preceded or accompanied with amnesia, confusion, and/or loss of consciousness?
