Ok here's the deal. I am 29, female,
overweight and a very tense nervous
person, but with no history of heart
disease in my family.
Lately I've been getting heart
palpitations and flushed face when I am
stressed out or other times just randomly,
my heart doesn't speed up or anything but
it seems to be pumping harder and I can
feel it in my throat and stuff. So last
week I went to see my family doctor who
took some blood tests, listened to my
heart and asked if I've been having chest
pain or pressure (no to both). So then he
sent me on my way, I still don't know the
results of the blood tests but the ones I
had 2 years ago said my cholesterol was
very low even though I am overweight so I
am expecting a similar trend this time.
Anyway the reason I am sort of freaking
out again is because it keeps happening
and it's a really scary feeling, and I
don't know what is causing it. I also feel
weak when it happens and tired more than I
used to. I have shortness of breath when I
exert myself but I sort of assume that is
because I am overweight, and my Dr.
agreed. I've also been having headaches
but I assume it's because I need new
glasses and am on the computer a lot.
And as of yesterday, my left arm has been
hurting. Not that bad, it's almost a mix
between numbness, tingling and
burning...but at a mild level. So I think
that could be heart related OR related
again to the fact that I am typing quite
often so maybe I pinched a nerve or
something. This morning I have noticed
some really mild, fleeting chest pains
mostly on the left but sometimes on the
right, so mild that had I not been
focusing so hard on how I am feeling I
might not have even noticed it, and maybe
I am bringing it on myself, I just have no
idea.
anyway I am so stressed out about this
which is very possibly contributing to how
I am feeling. Do I need to get a second
opinion? Do I have to demand some kind of
action? He didn't do an ECG or a stress
test or anything but maybe he should have.
I just don't know what I should do at this
point. I am in another city now too so I
can't go back to him I'd have to go to a
clinic.
So, does anyone have any advice about what
I should do?
Thanks if you do.

Go to a cardiologist and have him
evaluate you and do an EKG. If you have
these symptoms again go to the ER. Do you
have any indigestion or heartburn lately?
This is a sign of heart attack in women.
Do not blow off these symptoms. There are
many physicians that do not know that
women present differently than men with
heart problems. I hope this helps.

Thanks for that, I am going to a different
dr. tomorrow, I think I need a referral
from him to see a specialist though, so I
will ask. I don't have indigestion or
heartburn though.
