heart problems after smoking Posted: 03-26-08 11:07am
Hey, i'm a 22 year old male from Scotland.
I have been having strange feelings in my
chest that started a week ago. I was a
smoker for 8 years, I would smoke about
2-3 cannabis rollies a day, sometimes
none, but gave up recently because i'm
starting to fear for my health.
It all started one night when i smoked one
and started feeling butterflies in my
stomach that lasted about 30 minutes, then
i started feeling really sick and my heart
was beating fast. I thought to myself
something is wrong, so i went into my
bedroom and lied down, then my body
started shaking uncontrollably and i broke
out in a cold sweat. I had this terrible
feeling of doom, like i was about to die,
the shaking lasted about 10 minutes and
then i finally calmed down but still felt
strange, this never happened before.
Since that night i have been having
trouble sleeping because it feels like my
heart is beating loudly, never noticed this
before. I also get a strange nervous
feeling in my chest when tired and
sometimes sharp pains near the centre of
my chest that last for about a second.
I want to go to the doctors but i'm not
sure what to tell them. I looked around
online for the symptoms i experienced and
it seems like it might have been a panic
attack.
Do I have heart problems?

It sounds like you are having panic
attacks. They can be precipitated by
smoking cannabis. Sometimes people
experience panic attacks for no known
reason. Go to the doctor. The doctor can
give you medication for the panic attacks.
Good luck.
