heartbeat not steady and skipping beats Posted: 03-16-08 02:30am
I'm new to this forum, and medical forums
in general, so I'll start with some
history on me before I get to my
situation.
I'm 18 but I'm overweight and eat
unhealthy. I was very inactive but have
become more active lately, lost rougly 30
pounds and have probably 50 to 70 pounds
left to go, but my diet can't change
because I do not provide for food in the
house.
Heart disease and heart attacks run on at
least one side of my family, and my
grandfather ands great grandfather on my
dads side died in their either in their
30's, 40's, or 50's of heart attacks.
I don't smoke, drink alcohol, or do drugs,
I rarely drink soda, and rarely have
caffeinated beverages or foods. I do have
asthma and take albuterol and aerobid.
Lately I have noticed that my heart does
not have a steady beat. It will beat
harder when I breathe in even though I'm
not struggling to breathe, and slow down a
lot when i exhale. My heart rate when
sitting changes from 72 to 86 BPM quite
often. I also think my heart may be
skipping a beat every so often.
Is this something I should talk to a
doctor about? Could this be a sign of
heart trouble or are changes like this
normal?
BTW, it's been happening for months, but I
have OCD ( been diagnosed with it ) and
Paranoia ( haven't been diagnosed with
this, but it's obvious ) and I feel
paranoid around doctors and my obsessing
over this just might be another thing I do
because of my OCD.
