Heartburn or pregnancy problem Posted: 03-06-08 15:04pm
Ok so thought I'd ask you all cause I feel
so dumb calling my Dr's office and asking
them. So I'm 19 weeks along, with my
first child. The last few nights when I
go to bed I wake up in the middle of the
night with these bad pains in my chest,
I've kinda been pushing them off as
heartburn thinking it must have been
something I ate (yeah I need to lay off
the Jalapeno pizza) well last night I
wasn't feeling very hungry so I ate some
carrots and an orange for dinner and again
with the same pains. I again said it was
heartburn, but my husband says that's not
what heartburn feels like that it's more
in your throat and makes you feel like you
need to burp...that's not the feeling I'm
getting. So he's all freaked out and says
I should go to the Dr, but he's a guy, and
we all know guys are kind of whiners, and
he's a bit of a hypo-condriac anyway about
everything, so what's your
thoughts....Heartburn...or something else?
Thanks and happy pregnancy to you all.

If it is at night when you lie down, it
sounds like heart burn/acid reflux. Are
you taking tums? Oranges are acidic and
could cause that burning feeling.
It is worth mentioning to the doctor. Pick
up some tums too! Good luck.

Thanks ladies....ummm can I really take
tums? That news would really make my life!
I'm sure you all know about the gas and
stomach problems that go along with
pregnancy...I didn't know I could take
tums...that just made me so happy. Ok so
now that i know that it's not totally
normal I won't feel so dumb asking my Dr
about it. I just don't want her to get
annoyed with all my questions ya know.

Most likely its a mixture of the
acid/antiacids and reflux and heart
burn... in my opinion its something that
almost all pregnant woman deal with... I
chose Mylanta over tums/rolaids... check
it out its a big ugly green bottle... but
it works wonddderss!
