hi..im a 17 year old boy n im 5'5" tall.i
work out regularly in the gym n lift heavy
weights.will that stunt my height in any
way??? Will i grow any taller in the
future?if yes then how tall will i grow
according to my present height?
please tell...

There is no way for anyone to predict your
height. You can guess at it by knowing how
tall your parents and grand parents
are/were. This will give you an idea of
how tall you may get.
Lifting heavy weights can cause the
epiphyseal plates to close prematurely.
The bones are pushed together by the
weight and close the room the bones should
have to elongate and grow. So, in a word,
yes, lifting heavy weights can stunt your
growth. It is not recommended that teens
lift heavy weights for this reason.

No one person can tell you how tall you
will grow. I think males grow until
they're about 25 years old so yes, you
cuold get taller but it doesn't mean you
will. An easly way to *try* and predict
this is to look at the people in your
family. Are they tall? if so mayube you
will get taller. If hey are short, you may
just stay 5'5"

At school according to my P.E teaching
lifting weights at teenage years can be
quite bad for the developement in your
bones because your body is not full
developed yet. he said best thing is
lifting your own weight which is what i do
