Back Pain Forum - hemmoraged disc no pain

Hello all, newbie here looking for some options.

I've got a mild-moderate hemmoraged disc (L4-L5) that I've been battling with for nearly 2 years. It will get better after a couple of months of meds and PT. However, it will hit me from out of nowhere and send me to the ER in 4-5 months after recovery.

Unfortunatly I was originaly diagnosed with muscle spasms and it wasn't until this last episode that the Dr. in the ER said I should see a specialist. I took his advice and saw a neurologists and had an MRI. The MRI showed the hemmoraged disk and I was told the old fashion fusion was my option. I of course got a second opinion.

Second neurologists originaly said I didn't need surgury at my age and health (32 in decent shape). After I explained to him that it kept comming back which led to missed work etc. etc. he said that surgury was an option. He suggested I get a discography first to be certain that the hemmoraged disc was the one causing my pain. He also said he prefers an XLIF over the old fusion. I decided to go with neurologist #2.

I got my discogram done yesterday with some interesting results. Turns out I have pain in not one but 2 discs. Neither of those discs are the herniated one (they're located directly above and below it). Surgery was called off and was told that it was time I sought out non traditional medicine ("chiropractic, acupuncture or tai-chi"). He wasn't going to remove a disc that wasn't huring me or a disc that was structuraly sound even though it is causing pain.

My question is (yeah FINALLY getting there) is it possible that the herniated disc is causing the other two disc to hurt due to misalignment in my spine? I would think the herniated disc, although not painful, is causing pressure on the healthy discs.

Sorry for the long post but I'm now stuck in pain not knowing what to do next.
