Are coldsores considered herpes simplex 1?
If herpes simplex 1 is transfered to the genitals, is it now considered
herpes simplex 2?

What could i expect if herpes simplex 1 is transfered to my genitals?

In most of the cases, cold sores (oral herpes) are caused by HSV 1 (the most common type of HS viruses).
Genital herpes is caused usually by HSV 2, but, both types of viruses can infect any area of the skin or mucous membranes.
When HSV 1 is transmitted to genital area is not considered HSV 2.
It stays HSV 1 and causes lesions on the genitals, but, milder ones.
Both types HSV 1 and HSV 2 cause milder infections when they are away from "home" territory.

When were you exposed to HSV infection?

About 2 and a half weeks ago i was exposed i believe. I do not think i am infected, My girlfriend has had a coldsore before about 6 months ago, And has never had one since. I'm sure she wasn't shedding at the time. I know i can still get it from her though, a very low possiblity.

When you say "home" territory your refering to the lips, correct?

Yes, I meant lips like home territory for HSV 1, and genitals like home territory for HSV 2.
Both, HSV 1 and HSV 2, are most contagious during active outbreaks, but are often spread through viral shedding when there are no recognizable symptoms.
People with recurrent oral HSV-1 shed virus in their saliva about 5% of the time even when they show no symptoms.
Herpes simplex infections are asymptomatic in as many as 80% of patients.
Genital herpes caused by both HSV-1 and HSV-2 is asymptomatic in most patients.
The incubation period (period between exposure to a virus, and when symptoms and signs are first apparent) is 3-7 days (range = 1 d to 3 wk).
