Hiatal Hernia treatment

I have been trying to find someone else in the forum that has a Hiatus Hernia, I'm begining to wonder if I am the only one suffering from this problem, if so please give me your secret. I have had a hiatus hernia for about 3 years now, I don't have so much gerd or acid reflux, but what happens is when I eat mainly my dinner, the food seems to get stuck in my chest area and won't go any further, I can't even get water to go down. The pain goes into my chest, my shoulder and into my back. The only way I can get any relief is to make myself vomit, it sometimes takes a few times but once it has cleared, it is ok and no more pain. There has to be something to help with this, surgery has been mentioned, but even the surgeon says it is only good for 3-4 yrs.and it happens all over again, and none of the meds. help.
Could someone please help, the pain is so bad, I sometimes think I am having a heart attack.

Thanks

Did doctors tell you which type of hiatus hernia you have?
Do you have any other stomach disorders like gastritis, peptic ulcer or else?
Are you overweight?
Do you often lift heavy things?
Are you often constipated or coughing?
