Q: High Fever during pregnancy

The last few days I haven't been feeling very well, came down with a cold of some sort, anyway since yesterday I managed to get this fever it varies between 100.3 and 104.1 was the highest it got last night. I tried calling my Dr. but she hasn't called me back yet. I've taken tylenol a few times and it helps but only temporarily, and within a few hours the fever is back...at what point should I call it good and go to the ER? Does anyone know if it could harm the baby? I know they say sometimes fevers are somewhat normal in early pregnancy...should I not be worried?

A fever of 104 is not 'normal' in early pregnancy. It is afternoon now, if your doctor hasn't called you back, call him back and explain your situation to the nurse or receptionist. If your doctor knows it is urgent, s/he is more likely to get back to you ASAP.

Ugh it's so frustrating, I've called my Dr. office again and they still haven't called me back. I'm not sure what to do...maybe I'll just bite the bullet and go to an urgent care clinic or something.

yes, you should go to urgent care. you should also look into finding a new doctor. your doctor should not be ignoring a fever of 104*.

My doctor said anything over 102 while pregnant go to the ER if nothing brings it down medicine wise. It could be the flu coming on if you haven't had the shot yet, I know they haven't lifted the flu warnings around my hospital.

I hope you get better!

Her fever sounds like it is coming and going. I think she should be worried if it is sustained for long periods of time. From what she said, tylenol brings it down.

My doc said any time you have a fever of 103 or higher, you should be seen asap.
