I'm 43 & started seeing a fertility spec. that initially told me that my progesterone level, blood and the fact that I have regular periods was good for fertility.
He put me on a 5-day Clomiphene treatment, and on/off I've had stabbing, sharp, piercing pains in my right lower abdomen--yesterday the pain radiated to my center ab, which felt like charlie horse cramps--pain/discomfort seemed to subside when I sat down or laid down--until I stood again (lasted from 4-6 hours)--at first I thought it was from something I ate.
Today when the doctor did an US, he told me it didn't look as good as he thought before, and the fact that my FSH level is high, that likelihood of conceiving were low
I've started to read a lot about PID and wondered if I have it (have not been checked yet)--last year I was treated for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea (this was a complete shock to me)-both my husband & I took meds--tests negative.
I'm afraid I have no idea just HOW LONG I had these STDs before I took treatment.
My fear is that the on/off pains I've had, the previous yeast infections, and occasional abnormal periods, lower back pain are most likely PID. No fever.
Should I wait to proceed with fertility treatments until I am certain about the PID?
This specialist told me we could schedule an X-Ray of my Tubes, which is very painful, and just the thought of the pain sickens me. But the test would reveal any damage/blockage.
Although I'm 43, I am in great physical shape, workout every day. I look like I'm in my upper 20's or early 30's, but realistically my eggs are 43 years old
On one hand, I'm frightened to find out about PID and if my tubes are damaged; on the other hand, I suspect it's something I need to do.
