HIV from kissing ?
Posted: 06-09-08 13:00pm

ok some lady called me today asking if i knew this guy named william or omar. i said no because its none of her business. plus i heard she was a prostitute so you know i did not really care what she said. but anyways omar is the same race as me H0NDURAN. i think he is legal to be here in the united states but anyways i kissed this omar guy and i think i french kissed him ALSO, i do not remember. but i was wondering if you can get HIV from french kissing or kissing. because other than that i did not do anything else with him. all i did was kiss him. he was wanting me to go in his house to have sex with him one time and i said no i am not like that. then couple days later i talked to my friend hannah and primo and they said be careful because there was alot of prostitutes that go to omar's house. and i said ok. and after that day i never talk to omar anymore and when he calls me i do not even answer his calls.

You know, personally, I never thought you could get HIV from kissing, BUT one of my teachers back at my 2 year college told me it was possible.
I remember her saying that if there were open sores inside the mouth, then it could be possible, although extremely rare.

Of course with open sours you could but I think the chances are very very very slim...
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) considers open-mouth kissing low-risk for transmitting HIV, especially if both partners are without sores or cuts on the mouth or lips. Saliva has certain proteins that make it an extremely poor carrier of HIV. As a result, kissing, sucking, and licking the lips, mouth, and tongue are basically safe.

Sweetie, I wouldn't be too worried about this. Like homer said, it's really rare. I've never heard of anyone contracting HIV in this way (it doesn't mean it's not possible). If you are really worried, your best bet would be to get tested. It wouldn't hurt anything to get tested anyway. More people should do it!

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe when you get tested, they request you to get a retest in 6 months.
There aren't any home tests on the market-although it's a good idea-not just for HIV, but for all STDs.
Just go to the doctor. If you are uncomfortable seeing your own doctor, you can go to the local free clinic. They can test you (for free) and no one will know you there.

You're welcome! Really, I doubt you would have contracted HIV from this experience.
It would probably be a good idea to be tested for all STDs. Since he has been rumored to mess with a lot of prostitutes, it wouldn't be far-fetched that this person could have other STDs. Herpes is extremely contagious-especially through kissing. Just be careful! Good luck!

There are diseases that are transmitted orally as well. Major one is herpes. It comes in various forms, most likely they show as cold sores.
