i just wanna enquire ...how long after
being exposed to HIV a patient will have
TB..???is there any condition???whats is
minimal time ???is it in yrs or months???

ya....we all know HIv patinet will be
infected by TB later in their life..but
when will it happen???how long after being
infected after exposed to HIV??

I cannot believe the information I gave
you before on another post did not help
you.
One could could go for up to 17 years
without symptoms. Another person may die
after six months of knowing about their
HIV status.
Remember having TB doesn't mean you have
HIV/AIDS.
What is it exactly are you asking? Tell
it as it is and you will get more help
then.

Sorry, I can't help. My brother tested
positive for HIV in 1986 and I never knew
TB was a symptom. We lost him in 2001 due
to misdiagnosis of the type hepatitis he
contracted. It was quite a shock as the
HIV seemed under control with his T-cell
count being within range, but it turned
out he also had contracted hepatitis C in
1986 and the doctor did not diagnose that.
His liver was eventually affected due to
hepatitis C, and we lost him due to liver
failure, not AIDS. I am grateful for the
time we did have together - it was so hard
- but at least our family had several
years with him before he passed. I know
this doesn't answer your question, I have
just never heard of TB as a symtom.

TB is an opportunistic illness. People
get TB without HIV. There is a difference
between symptoms and opportunistic
illnesses.
Sorry to hear about your brother. I hope
he knows my daughter. She passed away at
almost 7 years old. It was a reaction to
penicillin. 1997.

That is very,very sad - 7 years old. I
have two children and can't imagine the
loss you must feel. My heart goes out to
you. I do not know how I could deal with
such a tragedy. You obviously are a very
strong person.
I know what TB is, but is it a symptom
associated with AIDS as well?

I appreciate that.
When the fighter cells get to below 200,
normal being 400-1500, then a person can
get one or more of 25-29 illnesses. TB is
one of them.
They are called opportunistic illnesses
because they take advantage of an
opportunity offered by a weakened immune
system.

Fortunately, my brother never experienced
those illnesses. As I said, the hepatitis
was a real shock to us. We lost him after
he was diagnosed with hepatitis a year
later. Actually, he was on the liver
transplant list in California, and my
younger brother was a candidate, but he
eventually got to sick, before he could
have the surgery.

Oh yes, I am just grateful we had him for
10 years after being diagnosed with HIV.
Knowing he was HIV positive, and knowing
at any time he would become ill with an
oportunistist illness, motivated him to
see the world, and experience life to the
fulliest. He told us not to grieve, he
was very fortunate to have had the
finances to travel and do everything he
wanted in life. He wanted us to celebrate
his life, not mourn his loss. He was very
strong until the end. I have forgiven the
doctor, but as you know losing a loved one
is the hardest thing a person will ever
endure in life.

I too will celebrate your brother's life.
Everyday I light a candle for all those
who have gone before us.
What is your brother's name?
My prayer is that I too will be strong to
the end. God help me.
It took me ten years to mourn my daughter
and on the 10th year, I decided I could
not carry on like that. I had a husband
who needed loving and had to let Jessy go
as much as I loved her. The more I let
her go, the more she came back to love me.
It is amazing.
Thanks for your courage and strength.
Keep it up and please know that your
brother is always with you.
I only imagine the pain if I lost my
brothers or my sister. I can only
imagine...I can relate to the death of a
child but I would be broken mbae my
sibling's death. You come from a family
that is strong. A strong line of people.

His name was Carl. He is with me always,
I think of him every day and even ask for
advice from him when I don't know where to
turn. He was very intellligent (master's
degree) and a very loving, compassionate
person. I have a daugter and her name is
Jessica, and we call her Jessi - she
turned 22 yesterday and graduated from
college today. My brother left money for
her college finances (even though he
passed away 7 years ago) - so it was a
very special day for us. Thank you all
for listening and again my thoughts are
with everyone who has a loved one who is
terminal, or has passed on. I believe my
brother was with us today, and was so
proud when they called her name at the
graduation ceremony. She did him proud,
she graduated Magan Cum Laude!
