Q: Hypospadias + Male Fertility

Hypospadias is a condition where the urethral meatus (opening) is not on the tip of the penile glans; instead, the opening occurs on the ventral side (bottom or underside) of the penis.
My husband has middle hypospadias, and I was wondering if any one was experiencing problems getting pregnant? I got married about 8 months ago and this topic has never been discussed between my us. I've never mentioned the hypospadia ever! We have been together for five years. We are not trying to have children yet, but I'm curious about future problems. Any comments?

We studied this in my Sex and Sexuality class, actually. It can cause some difficulties when conceiving, but if his hypospadia is in the middle of his shaft, it seems like you wouldn't have too difficult a time. When you are have sex without a condom and trying to conceive, have him keep his penis in a little longer to make sure sperm makes its way down. Kind of...letting gravity go.
