I was detetcted hypothyroidism last year
and have been taking in thyrax pills now
for 2 years. The thyroid is under control,
however I am still taking Thyrax pills.
I was also using contraception pills for
protection which I have stopped now for
about 8-10 months.
We are now trying to start a family, but I
am not getting pregnant. Could hypo
thyroidism be a reason for my not being
able to get pregnant?
Thanks,
Miss India

Dear Miss India,
It could be the reason. The thyroid
produces a feminine hormone that is very
important for the conception. I am not
pretty sure how this hormone is called but
I believe it is the Prolactine. Probably
you`ll have to test the levels of your
feminine hormones (it is a blood test and
I have already made it). My problem was a
low level of progesterone and I normalised
it with the help of a herbal medicine
called Vitex. I do not know if Vitex is
sold in Netherlands but for sure you could
find sth similar with an active component
of the herb called VITEX AGNUS CAST. It
helps normalizing the level of the three
feminine hormones, does not have side
effects and is recommended when unaible to
conceive on hormonal basis. However you
have to talk to your doctor about it but I
am pretty sure he wouldn`t mind
perscribing you that herbal pill.
Wishing you the best of luck and a sooner
baby cry!
