Confused

Please help me I feel so sick and I have tried alot of stuff to get me to go into labor and i just wont. My baby is 7lb 6oz already and I have siatica so walking is so hard right now. I am due May 27th to have my c-section but I just cant wait any longer. I am feeling so sick I throw up, I can barely walk and in the morning my bones kills me. When I do walk around my pelvic bone throbs. I just cant take it anymore. I tried causing myself to have a orgasim and that didnt help it just tightened my belly and hurt alittle. I also tried nipple stimulation. My partner is currently away so sex is not a answer. And there is no way I am drinking castor oil. Please someone give me a clue what to do I am loosing it.

The reason you're not going into labor is because your body (and baby) are obviously not ready for labor. The last weeks of pregnancy are hard to get through and usually the most uncomfortable of the entire experience - most of us know that already from previous pregnancies. But these last weeks are also very important for your baby's development. The lungs continue to mature, and every day in your womb makes your child stronger. I would heavily advise against trying to put yourself into early labor.

You should let your doctor know of your discomforts. He/she might be able to prescribe something to ease your vomiting or perhaps put you on bedrest for your pain.

I know this is hard and that you're feeling at your limit. Try to keep your baby in mind though and get through these last few weeks for him/her. Consider this a preview of the years to come when your child's needs come before your comforts.

Good luck!

I just thought I'd add a couple of specific things that are happening to your baby in these last few weeks.

* Your baby's lungs are developing and manufacturing a substance called surfactant, which helps keep the air sacs open when your child draws a breath. It also helps prevent the lung(s) from collapsing.

* Your baby's fat stores increase. These fat stores help regulate his/her body temperature after birth, since newborns can't shiver.

These alone are two very important reasons to try to keep that little one in there for as long as possible. I can think of two mothers from this forum whose babies were born on time who both had trouble breathing and had to be placed in the NICU. I really think if you put things into perspective, you'd much rather your child have every chance of being born healthy and problem-free than risk his/her health for your comfort.

Oh dear, I know exactly how you feel my dear! I have had 6 pregnancies and each as been worse than the next. My last one I felt like it was the end for three months. My back was so bad I couldn't get in and out of bed: my husband had to move my legs for me, and carefully at that. I had so many food allergies I ended up eating all the foods (carbs) that I knew wouldn't be good for me, but it was the only thing I could digest even with enzymes. Not only that, I had 5 other kids to take care of. Everything just ached, especially my pelvis...that was almost worse than the sciatica!

Making yourself orgasm or having sex isn't going to make you have the baby. There are things in semen that can start your labor, but the baby has to be ready and it only works best when you are at your due date or later. One of my babies was born 6 weeks early and you don't want that...a NICU for however many days he's in there is not going to be fun and it is worth the pain of the pregnancy NOT to have to deal with NICU.

You can try just taking lots of warm, not hot, baths in Epsom salts, which will relieve the pressure. You can also kneel in front of a soft couch and rest your head and upper body on the couch with your belly hanging free. That always feels great for a while. Listen to soothing music as well.

If you feel that you really cannot handle the pregnancy, it is important to talk to your doctor. He might be able to give you something for pain, which is still able to be given this late in pregnancy. You've come this far, don't give up now. Don't think about how long you have to wait, just think of it as one day at a time. Spend time with other people as much as you can to help pass the time. You will have a beautiful baby soon...and they are worth it Smile Smile

Why are you having a c-section? How does the doctor know you will not be able to deliver naturally?

It's me again
This is my second pregnancy. I have alittle girl who is going to be two years old. I couldnt deliver with her I wouldnt diolate only 2 cm. So I had a c-section with her. I really want to try with Delivery but my doctor said there are too many risks now and people are trying not to let people deliver after having a c-section. I really want to try natural. I was only 16 when I had my first one so I think it was just my body wasnt ready for it. I didnt feel any pains except heart burn with my first one. This one I can tell all my bones are stretching. When I lye on my side if I push my legs together it feels as if my leg bone is popping out and in place. Sometimes in feels good and sometimes it doesnt. I was put on bed rest but truthfully it drives me crazy I love being at work and I am only a receptionist so I feel bed rest is pointless. I work instead! I sat home one week and couldnt stay home any longer. They also gave me Vicadon but it makes me throw up and feel dizzy so I wont take it. Is there anything else I can do I am going crazy. I am so excited to have my baby boy and he is so big right now. I had a ultra sound yesterday and he is already 7lb 6oz. I dont want a 10lb baby it scares me. scared

Oh, you already have a little one. Chances are you would not be able to deliver the second naturally either - do not put yourself or little boy through it and then end up having a c-section as well. Why are you scared to have a BIG baby - c-section? As long as you are sitting, taking is easy, and keeping your feet elevated, you should be okay. What did your doctor say about that? Why were you put on bedrest, did you tell your doctor that you are a receptionist? A lot of times the sonograms are wrong, he may not weigh that much. Why did they prescribe Vicodin - I have never heard of that for someone who is pregnant?

Just remember they can't always accurately guess the weight of your baby with an ultrasound. & even if he is a big baby, at least you don't have to push him out!

Well they prescribed me vicodin because of my siatica pains. I wont take it at all. They put me on bed rest because of my siatic pains. The doctor told me to keep my legs elevated and lye down with my back tilted up alittle. he said at work I am sitting and that is putting too much pressure on my nerve. My daughter was so little when she was born and now having a big baby scares me. Is there any difference?

If you were having this baby vaginally, sure. But your c-section won't be affected at all by the size of your baby. And caring for a bigger baby is actually easier (from what I'm told) than caring for a smaller one.

And again, the benefits of staying pregnant as long as possible are listed above in my previous post. I strongly urge you to take your doctor's advice and go back on bed rest or ask him to prescribe something other than vicodin if you're having a bad reaction to it. Please don't put your baby's health at risk by forcing him/her to come out before they're ready.

I just had a vaginal birth after 2 c-sections. I didn't dilate properly on my first one either.

Contrary to what a lot of doctors want to make you think....it is actually safer to delivery vaginally even after a c-section, provided you had the right stitching....that would be the low cut from hip to hip. If it was just because you wouldn't dilate, I would really advise you to ask your doctor to consider letting you go on a trial of labor, without pitocin on course. [Pitocin increases your chances of rupture (c-section or no.)] There are many many more risks to a c-section than there are to delivering vaginally, and if you want more information, please feel free to contact me. In some states, it is illegal to have a vbac because of insurance and malpractice, but if you want to have a vaginal birth, it is really up to you and not your doctor. If he won't do it, there are some who will. Believe me, it is worth the recovery time to get what you want, especially when you already have a little one to care for.

I was able to put off a lot of bed rest by getting mechanical (activator) adjustments from a chiropractor. It is more gentle than the regular "moving" and popping that so many of them are notorious for. You should try that.
