Your post contains the key words here 'if the baby's lungs are developed'. That will be the biggest factor. I'm sure your doctor will be testing to make sure and giving you steriod shots to develop the lungs, etc, right?

Has your doctor determined that you are having a large baby?

inducing @ 36weeks
Today I found out that's what the doctor wants to do so I will be tested next Tuesday morning to see if baby's lungs are developed and if so that evening doctor wants to start inducing labor because she says its to late in my pregnancy to start me on insulin

Insulin? I was under the impression that gestation diabetes was treated with a special diet.

I personally would not want to be induced at 36 weeks. There's a reason we're pregnant for 40 weeks and beyond, and I personally feel that every day the baby's in the womb, he or she becomes stronger. But if you're having health problems and your doctor feels it's best, I suppose you should go with that.

Ask your doctor about controlling your diabetes with a diet lower in sugar, though. It might be safer than inducing ahead of schedule if you can get your blood sugar under control.

I was induced at 37 weeks (there was some debate about whether I was 36 weeks 6 days or 37 weeks 6 days because my dates didn't quite match up) but either way, my daughter was very jaundiced & couldn't regulate her body temperature or breastfeed. Her lungs were fully developed, she didn't need any oxygen when she was born, so I suppose we were lucky from that point of view.. some babies born at that stage have to spend a little while in the NICU.

I'd want to wait another week, because 37 weeks is considered "full term".. but if your doctor thinks it's best then I guess you'll have to go with that. Good luck.
