Are they positive it is your periods and
not something wrong where you are unable
to really absorb the iron?
Have you had tests to determine this is
the reason?

I agree with singlemamma. I would be all
means seek a second oinion from another
doctor, before I ever decided to go for
this hysterectomy. You are only 20 eyars
old....I could not imagine having 3
children at 20. You may feel now taht oyu
have completed your family, but in years
to come, if soemting were to
happen.....Gosh forbid it, and you wanted
another child, yo uwould not e able ot
produce one. There are other reasons your
body can;t absorb or looses the iron, I'd
weigh all the options before deciding for
a hysterectomy at 20 years old.! You, do
whatever it takes for you to be in hte
best long term health.......

Why do they think your periods are causing
this. Are they heavy? How often do you
have them? I agree that a hysterectomy
should be a last resort. Get a second or
third opinion. Do you have any problems
with your blood pressure? Let us know how
you are doing. It is your decision, we
just think you should consider your
options. Don't let one doctor decide for
you. Good Luck.

yes they are certain i have had several
other tests done to make sure nothing else
is causing my anemia i have had an
infusion (had it in april) and my iron
lvls have already dropped 3 points in 3
months so they are very concerned
i have been diagoned with menorrhagia and
my periods are also very painful
i have tried several things to fix them
but nothing seems to work all the doctors
i have been to pretty much agree with my
doc
but i still feel wierd about having it
done
