I'm 15 and in 10th grade. It's very hard
for me to fall asleep. Usually taking me a
few hours to do so. I wake up at night and
it's usually still hard for me to go back
to sleep. I wake up at the smallest noise.
=/ idk is it insomnia or what? If so what
do i do?

For how long this is going on?
Was this preceded with something?
Are you going through a stressful period?
Insomnia doesn't only mean not sleeping
for days, but, just like in your case it
means having trouble sleeping (trouble
falling asleep, trouble staying asleep,
waking up earlier than you want to, or not
feeling refreshed when you do wake up)
Having one of these sleeping problems is
equal with having insomnia.

It's been going on for about 2 years I'd
say. And yes I think I'm very stressful.

Is this everyday scenario for the last two
years?
First, you should pay attention to the
stressors that disturb your sleep, whether
it is infrequently or on a regular basis
and second, try to find ways to relive
some of the stress in your life.
Do you have good sleep hygiene?
Are you taking afternoon naps?

And I sleep for maybe 50 minutes in
school.
I get alot of cramps in my legs when I
sleep too, and they wake me up.
This week I had 3. =/
And I don't know how to get rid of my
stress =/

Try to avoid napping during the day.
If you aren't physically active, make
regular exercise to be part of your daily
life, but don't exercise too close to
bedtime.
Give yourself plenty of time, about two
hours, to relax before bedtime, engaging
in a relaxing, non-alerting activity such
as reading or listening to music. Having a
shower is a great idea, too. And, go to
bed only when you're tired.
Thinking of you!

You are welcome!
Are the leg cramps usually affecting calf
muscles?
Does the pain ease when you stretch the
muscle that is causing you pain?

Yea their in the calf muscle, people call
it a "charlie horse" or something. And it
doesn't always go away after I stretch it.

Are these muscle cramps sudden and intense
feelings of pain?
Do you find the muscle still tender and
sore several hours after the cramp?
Do you currently take some medicines?

Yes, they wake me up at night and usually
take awhile to go away. And no I don't
take any medications. But I have recently
tried Simply Sleep which contains
Diphenhydramine HCL 25 mg per caplet, I
took about 13 of those, and it didn't have
any effect on me. I heard from somewhere
that if you take any sleeping pills and
they don't work, then this could be a sign
of insomnia. Idk though.

Sudden and intense feelings of pain in the
leg or foot, caused when a muscle
contracts and tightens are sleep related
leg cramps. They may happen while you are
still awake or after you are asleep.
Like in your case, the muscle cramp not
only causes pain, but it can also disturb
the sleep. It can make it hard to fall
asleep. It may also wake the person up
after have been asleep. The soreness felt
after the cramp can also make it hard to
go back to sleep again.
About 7% of children and teens have leg
cramps that are not very frequent.
For how long you are experiencing leg
cramps?
Do you get them every night?
Do you exercise vigorously?
Do you take enough liquids during day?

I do not get them every night. More like 1
or 2 times a month. And I suppose I've
been having them for 1 or 2 years. I don't
exercise at all anymore, but in the last
year, i exercised a lot and still got the
cramps, and I drink a lot of water during
the day.

At times, leg cramps can be eased by
massaging the area in pain, applying heat
to the muscle and moving the affected leg
or foot.
Cramps tend to come and go over a length
of many years.
Are you aware of some medical condition
you may have (diabetes, blood vessel
disease)?
Do you fall asleep at about the same time
every "night" (usually after midnight), no
matter what time you go to bed?
Do you have difficulty waking up in the
mornings?
Do you find it much easier to sleep during
the morning than at night?
