It was stated why you take birth control pills but since you are not sexually active you probably take the pills to treat your irregular cycles or bleeding.

Now, you probably have prolonged menstruation (menorrhagia) which is very unusual in cases when the patient takes birth control pills. The pills, in fact, should make the irregular cycles regular. That “big piece of skin that wasn’t a clot, it was white/fleshy color with bits of blood on it and about 5cm long” was probably the uterus’s mucosa (endometrium).

You may want to consult a gynecologist to exclude organic reasons for bleeding.
