Is this an anxiety attack?
Posted: 05-19-08 23:06pm

I made a post some where else thinking drugs where what made me lose movment in my hands. Well it happened again so I know it wasn't the drugs!

3 days ago I was with my friend in his truck and we where talking and laphing about the night before and I started feeling tingly in my hands and face. As minutes went by it got worse and worse. about probably 10-15 mins later it got so bad that it felt like my hands and face where swelling up. I looked down and I could not move my hands and all my fingers where straight and cramped togethor and I could not move them! My stomich was also numb and tingling. My friend said I looked like crap. I couldnt feel my face and it felt like my face was numb and could not move like it was paralized same with my hands. I was freaking out very bad. I started to try to calm my self down and the symptoms went away with in 5 mins and my face felt normal and hands could move but i still had a slight tingling in my fingers for 45 mins till I layed down and relaxed.

Well now 3 days later it happened again. I was with my moms bf in his truck and I was talking to his kid about stuff and started feeling slightly tingly in my cheaks and fingers. Then as minutes went by it got worse. I started feeling hot and freaked out as it got worse and I was tingling all over again. My hands started doing the same thing as last time but not as bad. I feel light headed whe nit happens to and I think my hands might get cold but im not sure. It seems like it affects my left hand slightly more than my right.

Im 18. Whats this sound like?

You need to go to the doctor!!! asap

I guess it could be a panic attack symptoms- but, you need to get checked out and make sure there is nothing neurological going on.

Went to the doc did pee and blood test and found nothing! Sad On the way their my hands started going numb but then it went away before my whole body went tingly and numb. I have to go to a neurologist now.

He cut off blood flow to one of my arms and it started tingling a lil and got worse and worse then got to the point where it felt like my arm and hand where viberating and my fingers started going on top of each other which is the same thing that happens to my whole body on its own! He said since it affects both sides my body it wasnt TIA's/strokes.

one time when I was a teen (before I had any mental problems at all) I got a shocking unexpected phone call that both scared and angered me. Afterwards my hands did that and i want numb/tingly all over and couldn't hardly move or feel anything and was kind of paralyzed for a few minutes. It happened again as an adult after unexpectedly running into and ex-boyfriend. This was all pre-onset of my anxiety problems. It was the strangest feeling. I've had plenty of "shocking" moments since then and it hasn't happened. I'm not sure what my point is except to say I think I know the feeling you are talking about and can sympathize. I'm sorry for ya and I hope it never happens to you again!

Come to think of it i have went into actual shock after an injury and it kind of felt like that + I felt sweaty AND COLD and turnd a gray/greenish color. That meant a major sudden drop in blood pressure. Maybe it's as simple as getting your blood pressure checked and getting on meds to regulate it??? Confused

Well my blood pressure is good. But im pretty sure when i start tingling and going numb that it drops. Seems like blood supply is cut off when it happens.

I really do not think it is anxiety - since the doctor cut the blood flow off to your arm and you started feeling the same symptoms. I don't think that would be anxiety. You are smart in seeing a neurologist - did he refer you to one? Do you have an appointment? It could be something as simple as a pinched nerve, just get it checked out. I have mitral valve prolapse and at times, my left arm and left side of my face will feel slightly numb, tingly. I was only 18 when I had the first symptoms after starting birth control pills, before I got married. The hormones in my body, mitral valve prolapse, along with the bc pills cause the symptoms. When I first became pregnant, the symptoms reoccurred, due to hormone changes in my body, and that is when they did a heart sonogram and found out I had mitral valve prolapse. I have had it since I was born, most likely. A lot of individuals have it - some have symptoms - some do not. I recently had mine checked out again - no change. The only thing I do have to do is take antibiotics before any kind of surgery, dental cleanings, and I take Toprol because of an elevated pulse 100/133 resting most days. Anyway.............maybe it is something as simple as the things I have mentioned, but yes, you do need to get it checked out.

The doc Said I needed to see a neurologist and my mom set up some apointment with some chick docter. My sister said somthing about whats happning to me at her work and a chick that works wit hher that has MS said the exact same things happen to her. So im probably going to get tested for MS. I know for the last 2 years I knotaced random muscle twitching threw out the day but it never bothered me.

I've had this...

I've just recently tried to figure out what this is. I, too, at times get these things. It's like your hands and face go numb, and your hands are stiff, usually like you're gesturing the number 4. Belly gets numb, too. It lasts anywhere between a couple of hours or 45 minutes. I thought it was anxiety, but sometimes it occurs when i'm just hanging with friends. If anyone knows, respond.

So far what I figgered out is I do not know what is wrong with me and i was toled it is going to be VERY hard to diagnose but I know a few things that are trigering it on me.

One of the MAJOR things that brings it on for me is alcohol. I party it up hardkor on the weeknds feeling fine while drunk. Ill fall asleep at some time when the suns already up and lator wake up. Ill have the normal hang over symptoms where your gut hurts and you dont feel good and might feel a little hot which is normal. But some days I wake up and feel perfectly fine.
Other days I wake up and just have a normal hang over while other days I will feel VERY VERY light headed and im that way all day. And its not from being hung over cause I been drinking for 5 years and it never made me feel that way. I can be so light headed that I will feel like im going to pass out and ill keep thinking over and over in my head that i need a docter. Some times ill be clumsy not that bad but a lil clumsy walking and what not and it seems like ill halusinate a little.
Andsome times Ill see what look like little hairs falling from the air but when i go to look at em their not their or i will see a black see threw thing floating and ill look at it and its gone.

I drink 1-3 times a week and drink till im wasted and i normaly pass out and black out. I used to drink til i passed out but i never blacked out and now i do I for ger almost teh whole night now and i dont know why.

Also i used to wake up a few times a night my whole life but now im waking up probably 6-10 times a night and dont know why i just keep waking up and its almost after every 45-60 mins and feel eithor dead tired or wide awake when I wake up.

Every time I went totaly numb and stuff it was a day after drinking or with in a few days after drinking. You might think well maybe you should stop drinking. Well maybe thats right but the question is why does the alcohol triger it the next day or days after? It must be afecting what ever is wrong with me.

During the day after drinking i will get slight tingling in hands and stuff but it dont get bad.

Heres the thing that made my doc think its going to be a hard diagnosis. EVERY TIME I HADA BAD ATTACK OR W/E I WAS INSIDE A CAR GOING DOWN THE HIGH WAY!!!!!! Every single time it happened bad I was in a car/truck. Now every time I get in a car truck I think what if i go tingly cause every time it happens I swear im going to pass out or die thats how it feels and its scary as can be.

And i had no more testing done cause I went to a doc and wanted to try some pills to kill yeast cause I think my problume is "Candida Albicans"!!! I have a bunch of the symptoms of that. The doc said he dont think I have it at less a organ is working wrong or if i have aids. Well maybe i have a organ working wrong stupid docter! He didnt want to let me try the pills which have no side affects worst thing that could have happen is I dont get better which would rule that out. BUT no instead he wanted me to test for that last and do a bunch of expensive tests dealing with my head and hart. Wouldn't be a bad idea but it pissed me off that he would not let me do a simple thing first so I got mad and said im not doing any of that and I havnt done none. It happened a few more times totaling I think 6 or 7 now. It seemed like all the symptoms I said I had he egnored most of em and just paid atention to me gettign tingly and loosing movment which he called carpel tunnle somthin which is when your hands or feet cramp and curl up n stuff. I have so many other symptoms which i said which every one of my symptoms which is about 15 symptoms ALL are symptoms of Candida Albicans!!! Numbniss tingling and light headnis is symptoms. And alcohol is high on yeast and sugar which could explaine why my symptoms are bad after drinking the next day.

I dont know. If I dont have Candida Albicans I guess ill see if I live or die now. And if I do have Candida Albicans ill probably end up dead or in the hospitle some time since this is going on 4 years of having signs of Candida Albicans after huffing air duster. Rolling Eyes

Call a nutritionist and ask what it would cost you to be tested for yeast. Ask for an organic acid test. This test will reveal correctable dysfunctions caused by fungus, yeast, metabolic disease and other disorders. It's a urine test. I believe you can be helped if you have this test done and then DO WHAT IS REQUIRED TO GET HEALTHY.
OK Bye.

This happened to me a few times when I was having sex. When it first started happening I thought that the sex was just that good-- then all of a sudden my hands and arms locked up, and I could hardly talk. I couldn't even walk around the room. I have no idea what it was or what caused it.

Maybe you can find a new doctor and tell them what you suspect and ask if they can test for it, and treat it. I would not be stubborn about this with the doctor, if they need tests then you should get them done so you can get to feeling better asap.
