Is vaginal discharge a sign of yeast infection Posted: 04-14-08 07:51am
Okay, well as of Thursday last week, my
discharge hasn't been normal.
It started off with some slight blood, or
spotting, which I figured was a cause of
my birth control (Yasmin 28, which I have
just started and I'm currently only on my
3rd week).
The next day I had itching, not burning,
just itching only when there was rubbing
on my vaginal area with my pants or
underwear, so irritation I guess. That
same day I noticed little (very little)
dry clumps on my underwear, and when I
wiped after using the washroom. It wasn't
milky at all, just extremely dry.
At first I thought yeast infection right?
but then I started to get some abdominal
cramping, but that could also just be
another side-effect of the birth control.
Some days though, the discharge will be
white and clumpy, but not exactly like
cottage cheese. I'm guessing I have a
yeast infection, can anyone confirm this?
I don't think it's severe either...
Also, I've had un-protected sex with my
boyfriend recently (yes, after being
protected by the birth control) and when
he came inside me, it burned for maybe 5
minutes, and then went away, another sign
of a yeast infection? Maybe Trich? And can
my partner get a yeast infection that
easily? what's the likely-hood of it
happening?
Thanks for reading.

Umm, yeah, it sounds like a yeast
infection. There are tests you can buy (at
the drug store) and also treatment, but
it's a good idea to check with a doc
because you want to make sure you're not
missing something more serious.
Burning during sex is also a sign of a
yeast infection. A guy can carry a yeast
infection, but wouldn't have many
symptoms, maybe burning during urination
if it's really bad- I think guys get more
skin related yeast infections (like
athlete's foot or ringworm) and less
internal type ones like women get. But
until you're cleared up, staying away from
intercourse is a good idea.

Ok so I went to the doctor today, yep,
yeast infection.
Minor one however, and the doctor said not
to worry about passing it on to my partner
because it's such a small scale yeast
infection. She recommended that I buy
(wrote a prescription) for Canesten 3 day
combination pack.
She recommended not to have sex either,
and if I do, it's going to be "goopey" so
it wouldn't be too pleasurable for me.
Well, my first yeast infection, I'm glad
it wasn't anywhere near as bad as the
stories I've heard.
