Leg pain during pregnancy Posted: 04-26-08 18:48pm
I am 13 weeks pregnant with shooting pain
either from my butt down through my legs
or from my butt up through my back. Anyone
have a diagnosis for this? Asked my
mother- she thinks its the hips widening
and interfering with the nerves. Anyone?
Anyone?

Yes it probably is, also your joints are
going to be much more flexible because of
the hormones. This allows your body to
accommodate your increasing belly. A
visit to the chiropractor for a mechanical
adjustment might be periodically necessary
for you to get through the pregnancy.

I totally agree with mominashoe because I
remember feeling like that for a bit in
the beginning. Are you lifting alot.. I
used to get it when I would vaccume, do
laundry etc. It wouldn't hurt while I was
doing it but I sure did pay for it after!
Good luck Hun!

Could be ligaments or sciatica. There is
nothing you can take to make it feel
better. Sit and relax

Yeah, it hurts worst when I'm working or
bending or on my feet for a long time.
StacyHoll, you mentioned that you went
through the same pains early in your
pregnancy- did they pain subside later on?
It huurrrtttss! The pain is so severe and
acute that it makes my whole body
contract, like what I would imagine being
tazed with a tazer gun would feel like...
aaahhhh the joys of pregnancy...

i think it definitely sounds like
sciatica, which you can't really do much
for unless you see a chiropractor. you can
try sitting on a heating pad set on low
and see if that helps.
your avatar pic is so cute! i love boston
terriers.

Actually, I have to disagree with the
heating pad, and a chiropractor will t ell
you the same. I know it does feel good
for a while, but sciatica is caused by
pinched nerves and inflammation. Using
heat will make the inflammation worse, so
cold packs are actually what will help
you. You can use them for no more than 15
minutes ever hour (you don't want to cause
a localized hypothermia)

a chiropractor is who told me to use a
heating pad. my sciatica was so bad i was
put on bedrest and told to lie on a
heating pad. i was also given tylenol with
codeine.
