losing weight but wearing bigger sizes on depo shot Posted: 03-17-08 13:48pm
i have been taking the depo shot for
6months have had my period for 2months i
thought i was gaining weight because my
clothes weren't fitting but i went for my
second shot and ihad lost 1lb i just went
to the doctor again and i lost 6more
pounds so i thought it was my washer
shrinking my clothes but i bought new
clothes in one size bigger than normal and
they don't fit either anyone know how i
can be loosing weight and expanding at the
same time????? i really want to know whats
going on and how i can stop it.

Well, you could be gaining width while
loosing muscle weight. One pound isn't
remarkable and is really attributable to
the scale being different from the one you
use at home. I'd say it's more likely that
you are in fact NOT losing any weight.
You're gaining fat.
The only way to stop it would be to not
get another shot.

I wouldn't go by sizes, I'd actually
measure and see if the measurements are
changing. You girls know how sizes can be
so unreliable!!

I agree! In one brand I'll just slip into
a 3, and in another brand I struggle
zipping up a 5!! I would measure with a
measuring tape and compare that way.
Gaining weight is a side effect of the
depot. If it is bothersome, I would talk
to your doctor about not taking the next
shot and switching to another form of
birth control.
