Marijuana and anxiety (gad and social) Posted: 05-10-08 04:48am
Hi.Im new here and was just wondering if
anyone knows anything about marijuana
affecting anxiety. I smoked marijuana a
lot 2 years ago and feel as though i was
bullied at the time. I've stopped now but
since then i've felt as tho im in a dream
like state and struggle to concentrate and
have difficulty hearing in loud places. I
have a bit of tinnitus aswell which doesnt
help and can keep me awake. Ive been to
see my doctor and a physchiatrist and they
both came to the conclusion that it was
caused by depression. Im not sure i agree
with that though because i feel as though
the depression is because of the symptoms
NOT the cause. I honestly feel as though
the marijuana has messed up my head and am
struggling to think of any other reason
for the symptoms. My doctor suggested it
could be generalised anxiety disorder
aswell but i honestly think hes clueless.
Im on 60mg of prozac a day and have been
on it for 6 weeks. No change in the
symptoms though. Can anybody give me any
advice?

Marijuana only causes short term anxiety
as far as I know. I dont know of a single
case ever that it has caused permanent
effects of any kind.

the trigger Posted: 05-12-08 03:30am
I have panic attack and generalized
anxiety disorder and I woke up one morning
with it and went to the emergency room.
I've had it ever since and the trigger was
cocaine, just one night and boom my brain
chemistry is now permently messed up. I
don't know if marijuana can do the same
thing but their are things that trigger
these types of disorders

Triggers don't mean that your mind is
permemntly messed up. You may think that
but I doubt cocaine or marijuana would (or
could do that).
Anyways if you think it does then it
probably will cause your brain and anxiety
are like that.
As for Pot. I had to stop smoking because
it increased my bodily sensations which
led my hypochondria to trigger off.
