Mental illness medication cause Posted: 02-29-08 17:21pm
2 years ago i was diagnosed with and auto
immune disease and put on a drug called
plaquenil. A year later i found myself
going into therapy that eventually lead to
a psychiatrist that diagnosed me with
bipolar disorder.
I have come to find out that the drug
plaquenil has "side effects" of mental
mood disorders, anxiety, paranoia, and
nightmares (to name a few)
when i went off this drug, after only a
few days i felt like a new person i no
longer needed any of the mood
stabilizers.. I felt as if i had an
exorcism!
If any of you are on medication for any
condition or reason, even birth control
pills or otherwise, i beg you to please
look into "all" the side effects to your
medicines, you may not be mentally ill, it
could just be your meds!

A mental disorder, it used to be called
"manic/depressive" where you have extreme
mood swings from bad depression,
moodiness, to feeling euphoric to the
point that you think you can do
"anything" and have high energy need
little to no sleep. Its bad, I was very
down all the time with negative thought
patterns. Plus, I was having terrible
dreams every night, violent. It got to the
point that I was having suicidal thoughts.
Since I've been off the plaquenil, I am
smiling again (its been over a year) I can
enjoy my friends and family..I don't
linger on negative thoughts. I am entirely
a new person.
