I am more than a little scared right now.
Here's my little story.
My boyfriend and I (we're both 18 ) have
been dating for over a year now and just
had sex for the first time on saturday. We
would've done it earlier but there wasn't
any opportunity. I know he's had sex with
one other girl once, and he was my first
sexual partner. We both party a lot and
occasionally smoke weed. I'd told him I
wanted to be completely sober for my first
time, but this was beginning to prove
difficult because every time we had the
opportunity we'd be intoxicated. So
anyway, after a party we were fooling
around and he asked me if I wanted him to
go in just for a second, and I said yes,
and well we got carried away...
I swear it had only been a minute before
he frantically pulled out. It took a
second for it all to sink in. We were both
scared and feeling like idiots for not
having protection.
Anyway, we talked about it and figured it
was a pretty small chance I was pregnant,
but at first I was pretty worried and so
was he. Today I just stopped worrying.
Then I started doing more research and
learned that there can be sperm in
precum..and well, it's a bigger chance
than I thought.
The worst part is that I don't really keep
track of my periods. They're pretty
irregular most of the time and I skip some
every now and then. I'm roughly estimating
that I should get it sometime next week.
I'm terrified to take a test, and I'm not
even sure I have enough money to buy one,
but I will if I haven't gotten my period
by the end of next week.
Yep, so I feel pretty stupid and scared
and worried all over again now. I have no
idea what I'd do if I was pregnant. I
mean, I don't know if I could handle an
abortion, but thinking about how
disappointed my family would be hurts a
lot.
I haven't told anyone this yet, and
neither has my boyfriend. I don't really
have a best-friend to tell anymore, and I
don't know how I'd broach the subject
anyway.
Apologies for this long-winded post. I
just had to get it out. Thank you for any
words you might have.

Don't worry. Chances are you are not
pregnant. First off, there is a small
window of time for women to get pregnant
every month and your circumstances were
not ideal for conception - considering
there was no actual sperm. There
can be sperm in precum - but there
isn't always and even then the numbers are
low.
Can it happen? Yes. Is it likely? No.
Wait for TWO WEEKS then take a pregnancy
test.
I'm sure you have an idea when your period
will come. Like the 2nd or 3rd week of the
month. If you aren't keeping track of this
stuff, when do you buy your tampons/pads?
When your test shows up negative, go get
some birth control!

A pregnancy test should be accurate in two
weeks, as ingi said.
For future emergencies, you should get
Plan B. Plan B is two pills that you take
twelve hours apart. If taken within 72
hours of unprotected sex (but the sooner
the better), it can help to prevent
ovulation and prevent pregnancy from
occurring. Since you are 18, you can get
it at any pharmacy. You can also get it
at Planned Parenthood if you live near
one; if you get it through there you will
save a lot of money.
Try to take it easy and not worry too
much. In two weeks the test will be
accurate.

Thank you both. This puts my mind at ease
quite a bit. I plan on getting myself on
the pill asap.

So I guess this is a little update. Still
no period, but I had all the cramps and
bloating I usually get right at the
beginning of it. I'm not sure if this
means anything or not. I've been feeling a
bit sick too, on and off. I'm giving it
two weeks until I get a test like you guys
advised, but man it's going to be hard to
wait another week. I told two of my
friends and my boyfriend told one of his
and they're all being super supportive.
I'm not really scared anymore, just kind
of anxious to know. He and I planned out
what we're going to do if I am pregnant,
and we would keep it.

how late are you now?
you could try a test now which would be
accurate..or go to the doctors and see
whats going on.
thats good that you guys talked it over to
know what the next step is if it turns out
that you are pregnant, sounds like he's
supportive and you have a good network of
supportive people around you.

Also know that stress can delay a period.
So you need to set your mind at ease,
easier said than done, yes but you need to
try.
Wait one more week then test!

I'm not sure how late I am, but I'm pretty
sure I should've had it by now. I'll wait
the week for sure. Yes, he is supportive.
He's more than I could ever ask for and I
know he'll stay with me till the end. He
even said that if I was pregnant he would
stop drinking with me, even when I said I
wouldn't mind it if he did. He even told
me the other day that no matter which way
it goes it would be good news to him. The
last week was very stressful but this week
will be better for sure. Thanks again for
the support and advice

Well, I just got my period. It was a nice
relief. I can't wait to have kids but I
would like it to be planned and to be
financially prepared for it. Thank you
again for all your help!

Congrats! I'm glad that your period
arrived and you no longer have to be
worried. It's also nice to know how
supportive your boyfriend truly is of you.
