Mild fever when hungry
Posted: 03-30-08 13:45pm

It's almost always when I'm hungry. And I'm not on a diet or something, or starving myself for days, else I wouldn't ask this question. As far as I noticed the 3 factors that affect it the most are:

-not getting atleast 6 hours of sleep
-not going to the toilet as soon as you have to defecate
-skipping a meal
All of this combined is usually the worst, but skipping a meal is the biggest factor.

But this happens if I skip just one meal. For example, if I had a good breakfast in the morning, but skipped 3pm launch, by 6-7pm I would be experiencing a mild fever. My temperature would raise (not that much like when I am sick but still higher than usual.) and I would be weak physically like I am about to faint (although that never happened).

Also, I don't know if it matters but I must say that I am working out in a gym last 3 months, but this started happening maybe a year ago (the same time my appetite suddenly increased and I started gaining weight, which is good since I was really skinny for my height. I am 1.95m tall and have 93kgs currently (was atleast 80))

This "fever" (if it is fever at all) usually passes as soon as I eat something, but last two times lasted even after that (maybe 15 minutes) so that is a reason why I'm writing this.

p.s -about a nickname: No, I'm not doing any drugs or did them in the past (or use any weight gain supplements for my gym, the increased appetite just popped out of nowhere) it's just a name of a song. I have no reason to lie since this is annonymous. I also don't smoke, but do drink, usually only during weekends. I had a sort of history of losing conciousness when I was young (epilepsy, but a mild one) but that was caused by a sudden pain shock, or staying too long in the hot sun. But it hasn't happened in like 10 years, because it was treated.

Do you actually take your temperature to determine you ahve a mild fever or do you just feel lik you have a mild fever?

Sounds a little like your sugars of off some and you should get that checked out.

Well I apologize because English is not my mother language, so I'm not sure if it's called fever at all.

But as I said the symptoms are: increased temperature and overall body weakness.

p.s When you mentioned sugar, did you mean that I could have diabetes?

That is kinda weird since I used to love all the sweet things (candies, cakes, sweets etc) when i was younger, but stopped having an appetite for them maybe 2-3 years ago.

But when googled about diabetes it says "Disorder characterized by increased drinking and urination" but I have increased eating...not drinking, and no increased urination what so ever.

I am hypoglycemic http://www.m edicinenet.com/hypoglycemia/article.htm

When I get an episode usually when I don't eat I feel ill, and hot much of the same symptoms. My body temperature doesn't actually go up but it sure feels like it does. I get shaky and sick to my stomach. Same things sometimes happen with the not sleeping or defecating for whatever reason too exactly when I need to. Not everytime but a lot of the times. I'll feel weak and I have fainted on occassion.

It sounds like though you actually have taken your temperature (with a thermometer) and that is how you know your body temp is up.

Sweets aren't the only things with lots of sugar in them, carbohydrates like breads, rice, noodles ect... will cause your sugars to fluxuate too.

Personally I would go to the doctor and in the meantime I would increase my proteins those help and most diabetics and hypoglycemics need protein most of all. Nuts are a good source of proteins.

It is okay about your language I am pretty sure I'm understanding you completely no need to apologize.

Much thanks for quick reply and helpful information.

To be honest, I haven't taken my temperature with a thermometer since it was a feeling of higher temperature, but not too high to take it seriously like I'm sick, since it would pass as soon as I eat something. I will take it as soon as I have symptoms again.

I read the whole article you gave me. In case I am hypoglycemic too, i have just two more questions:

1) Is it something that anyone can develop or was I hypoglycemic from my birth but started showing symptoms just now?

2) Can it be cured completely or will I have to worry about this for the rest of my life? Not that I am scared or anything, am completely calm, and I know all of these questions will be answered by a doctor but it's just something I need to know to be ready for anything he/she can say to me...

Thanks again,

I have an increased temperature right now, and I measured it and it is nothing above normal, so I guess you're right.

Also, I am a bit confused: Some sources on the net say I SHOULD eat sugar, candies, cookies as soon as I feel bad, while some strongly say I shouldn't and that it makes it only worse.

I'm not entirely sure about your quesitons but I will do my best.

1) I believe anyone can develop it but I think a lot of people have heredity of diabetes or hypoglycemia
2) I don't think it can be "cured" but it is very manageable and not like diabetes in the way that it would affect your life that way but it can turn into diabetes if you don't take care of yourself.

As for the sweets thing, an attack can help boost your sugar (as when you are feeling sick it is because the sugar gets too low) but remember that sugar in sweets tends to come crashing down as quickly as it makes you feel better too and you end up sick again if you don't eat something else to counteract it. I suggest orange juice also lots and lots of protein in your diet. Peanut butter crackers are good to have on hand too as peanut butter contains small amounts of sugar and lots of protein. Don't skip any meals is a good thing to live by no matter what yoru circumstances but especially so if you are hypogylcemic.

Did what you read make sense on what you are experiencing? I hope this was of some help. Overall it is the BEST to make a doctors appointment there is a blood test they can do along with you fasting to determine your sugar levels.
