Minimal contact with blood Posted: 05-25-08 23:19pm
I was in a public restroom recently, and
there was blood on a toilet seat. Without
thinking, I grabbed some toilet paper and
wiped off the seat. I did not touch the
seat with my skin when I used the toilet.
As I was washing my hands, I realized how
foolish I'd just been. I checked my hands
and did not see any cuts or sores, and as
far as I can tell I did not come in direct
contact with the blood. I'm not sure if
it makes any difference, but it was not
fresh blood; it was dry. I do not know
whose blood it was, or if they were HIV
positive, but now I am worried.
I'm sure I'm blowing this out of
proportion, but I'm still concerned that I
contracted something. I feel silly
posting this here, but I was hoping there
was someone who knew something about the
disease who could advise me on whether or
not this situation warrants me getting
tested.
Thank you.

HIV dies 30 seconds to a minute after it
leaves the body. There has to be a way
into the bloodstream for HIV to occur.
Like a cut, a sore or puncture which you
say you did not have.
