hey there
i went the the family planning clinic just
then wanting my mirena out.. i have had
hair growth, spots, lack of sex drive and
weight gain and feeling down and i thought
it might be down to the coil. Anyway, the
DR said the mirena wouldt cause these
thing cause the dosage is so small and
localised. I wanted a diaphram instead. I
dont think hormones agree with me.
She fitted a diaphram and said to try it
for a week and come back and have the coil
out if i rly want to but said the diaphram
isnt reliable enough for someone my
age.(and basically wants me to keep the
mirena)
When I got home I started getting bad pain
inside... i pulled the diaphram out and
its starting to die down.. it was like a
pulling cramp??? Is this possible? She put
it in??
So CAN the mirena cause these problems??
She said im spotty and hairy cause ive put
weight on... but i duno. And can the
diaphram hurt?? Thanks guys xx

FYI- Mirena doesn't usually cause these
things, but it CAN for some girls. It made
me gain 20 lbs. Don't let the doc discount
your experience.
I'd go back and make her take it out if
you've given it a good try (6 months?)
The diaphragm shouldn't cause pain like
that... but it is possible that the
hormones from the mirena were making your
cervix sore and that pressure on your
cervix from the insertion and removal of
the diaphragm caused cramping.
Question: Have you thought about a
non-hormonal IUD? It's just as effective
but has no hormones at all (so it
shouldn't have any hormonal side effects).
