Hi I am 16 and over the summer time I
accidentally bumped the bottom of my
eyelid pretty hard and ever since then my
left eye has been a little misaligned than
my right eye. I quickly went to the
bathroom to examine any damage and certain
enough when I tried to focus on something
up close I would get terrible eye aches,
my eyes didn't seem to focus together as a
team and I went through a terrible state
of severe depression, I almost threw up in
the bathroom because I didn't know how I
was going to get myself out of this one. I
talked to my parent's about this and they
didn't seem to notice any misalignment in
my eyes but I know how it happened and I
know my body and I know that there is
something wrong here with my eyes. The
misalignment is only mild but it is
constant and it is unbearable because
school just started and I am having
trouble focusing on certain things, and
its hurts a lot when I try to focus. i'll
get these pains inside of my eye and I'll
get bad headaches. I have seen only ONE
opthalmologist about my issue and he
didn't see anything wrong and I had an mri
done and there was no abnormalities in the
brain and he did not see any signs of
Glaucoma. Here I'll give you a full list
of my symptoms.
1. Frequent Headaches
2. I can't read all that well, like if i
read a book the words move everywhere and
I have to sort of tilt my head to make the
words stop moving)
3. Double Vision (Like if I look at a
glare off a wall, Ill see two glares
instead of only one)
4. I have seemed to have lost some depth
perception because i think that my brain
has learned to suppress one of my eyes
5. If I tilt my head all the way my Double
Vision goes away
So my question here for anybody to answer
is, Can I go into Vision Therapy to train
my eyes to work better again and to have
my eyes back to normal! Or have ANY
treatment or exercise or glasses that
would help me. Or am I completely done for
and there is nothing I can do? Please send
me some kind of good news I think my
parents think that Im full of it and their
not really paying anymore attention to the
issue at hand. This is an extremely
depressing time for me any kind of good
news or treatment out there would really
help keep me on my toes!

If you suspect that something is still
going on, I recommend that you seek a
second opinion from another
ophthalmologist.

Something else that I forgot to add is, I
am a huge computer geek and for months I
would stay up really late and wear my year
and a half old prescription glasses.

Well, there you go! Now that's What I
call a confession. Here are some healthy
habits for your eyes.
1. Be sure that you have ample lighting
in the room at night. Turn on a
combination of overhaed and floor lamps to
give your eyes a break!
2. Leave your seat occassionally, go
outside, and look into the distance. This
will train your eyes to focus on things
that are less than a foot away from you.
Try to do this 2 times an hour.
3. Exercise your eyes. Close your eyes,
place the heel of your palm on them and
then slowly rotate them in a "figure 8"
style. This will increase blood to the
area and really helps releive some stress.
4. Be sure to drink H2O! Are you
hydrated?
But get tested again. You might even seek
help at a walk-in clinic (Lens Crafters or
whatever) to just be sure that your
glasses are up to date...and ask the
clearks there for some healthy eye tips!

But during that time I wore eye contacts
that were up to date during the day, but I
wore my old glasses late at night in front
of the computer for a long time. And like
I said before it could be that or the fact
that I hit the bottom of my eye pretty
hard and THATS when I noticed a difference
from then until now. And I'm going to see
a different Ophthalmologist but I'm not
sure if he or she will treat my eyes for
that kind of injury. But I always wear my
contacts in front of a computer everyday
and I still see problems like that. But
when I put my old glasses on my problem
isnt that bad. So is it also possible for
older glasses to cause some sort of
permanent eye damage?
And I hope that the doctor will be able to
give me treatment on this or something to
help me focus better. But I am still
totally convinced that there is something
wrong with my left eye. I really
appreciate your help.

Let me see --- if the old glasses feel
better, why and how could they cause
damage? That might be a question for your
doctor. Please let us know how your
second appointment goes!

I went to see a doctor today for my eyes
and he gave me a full examination of my
eyes and he said that I have
Microstrabismus! He gave me the name and
location of a doctor for Vision Therapy. I
thank you very much for trying to support,
I really appreciate it!

Talk to your Dr about Vertical
Heterophoria, or do some google research
about it.
