miscarriage symptoms before m/c
Posted: 03-06-08 14:18pm

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone who has previously had a miscarriage had any symptoms beforehand. I am 6 weeks with my first pregnancy and am absolutely terrified of all the horror stories associated with miscarriage. I am very healthy, go to the gym often, eat well, am active, and am a healthy weight for my height (5' 5" 120 lbs)

ALSO topic #2....

I am a twin and have gained 5-6 pounds already... I have heard that excessive weight gain in early pregnancy could be a sign of twins. Do twins ALWAYS skip a generation? Any twins out there who gave birth to twins or who has a parent who is a twin?

Thanksss,
Charlie

Miscarriage happens. Usually it is from chromosomal anomalies and not from anything you could do and/or prevent from happening.

Are you an identical twin or fraternal? Identical twins are not hereditary, they are spontaneous. Fraternal twins are hereditary, however there is no 'generational' thing (like skiping a generation). My mother is a fraternal twin. She has identical twin cousins and triplet second cousins. I do not have twins. My sister does not have twins. My cousins do not have twins. We should be the twin generation and we aren't.

Your chances are statistically higher - but early weight gain is not an indicator of twins. Early weight gain is a sign of eating more calories/water weight.

Good luck. Let us know if its twins after your first ultrasound!

I am a fraternal twin. I would be absolutely thrilled to have twins, especially because I believe I could raise them well, being one myself...

Does the water weight go away during the pregnancy (as in 2nd or 3rd trimester) or does it stay on until after birth? I haven't been consuming anymore calories than normal, and have actually been eating less because I become extremely full a few bites into eating.

There are so many symptoms in pregnancy! Google has become my new best friend, especially after my first bloody nose in years yesterday, and a need to know if my feelings of disorientation and confusion were normal.
