Missed Pills and Unprotected Sex Posted: 05-22-08 09:24am
My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex two
days in a row and I took my pill late the
first day and missed one the next two
days. This is my third month on the pill
and I take it regularly but not always on
time. I just checked and these were my
supposed ovulation days. Now a week later
I am having mild cramps and spotting for 2
days(4 days after missed pills) I made up
the missed pills by following the
directions my doctor gave me. Could this
be breakthrough bleeding or implantation?
My period insnt due until week after next.

Well first of all, you didn't necessarily
ovulate, so don't try and figure out when
that was. Most people don't ovulate on
combined hormone pills, that's one of the
ways it protects you. However, since you
missed two pills, your protection is
compromised. You could very well be
spotting just because of the missed pills-
that's really common. Most women don't
have implantation bleeding, so don't even
think about that.
You can take a pregnancy test two weeks
after you had sex, and that's what I would
suggest doing.

Oh, no. Painkillers have no effect on
birth control at all.

Thanks for the help! I feel like I'm
asking too many questions but I couldnt
get in touch with my doctor for a few
days. One more thing I'm on Femcon Fe the
chewable pill and I dont always drink
liquids after taking it, that may be why
I'm getting the bleeding.

I'm not sure about Femcon and how
important that is- maybe someone else will
know. Perhaps you're on to something!
Don't worry about asking too many
questions, that what this forum is for!
