MMR jab side effects ????
Posted: 05-29-08 18:16pm

I have my eldest daughter booked in tomorrow for the MMR jab but i am cancelling it due to being so scared about what I have heard from other families and what I have read.aparently there is a link that says that MMR can kill and sometimes it can kill years later and when an autopsy has been done they found it to be soley down to this three in one vaccine.
What do you think?? How do you feel?? Have you said yes or no to MMR??
This is the site which tells you about MMR and the risk of death

What will be the risk if she gets measles, mumps or rubella?

I've had both my children vaccinated with MMR. I would do it again. People forget (and are wrongly told) why we don't have these diseases anymore. We are vaccinated against them. In countries where they aren't vaccinated against measles, they still get measles.

I will be having my daughter vaccinated with the MMR. For me the risks of the vaccine are less than the risks of what would happen if she caught the diseases. There has been a rise in cases of measles in London since the ate 90's when these research papers came out - I am not prepared to expose my child to that when current medical research and guidelines show the vaccine to be safe.

The link you provided isn't working for me but I've not heard about it causing death, the main controvosy was a supposed link between the MMR and autism (current medical opinion/research does not find any link - if you want any links on this try the WHO or Dept. of Health (UK) - I know the nhs website also has a link to many studies done on the risks/links to other problems with the MMR).

The above link states the correct risks associated with the MMR vaccine. I'll list them here for you.

Quote:
RISKS

Most people who receive the MMR will have no associated problems. Others may have minor problems, such as soreness and redness at the injection site or fevers. Serious problems associated with receiving the MMR are rare.

Potential mild to moderate adverse effects include:

Fever (1 in 6 children)
Rash (1 in 20)
Swollen glands (rare)
Seizure (1 in 3,000)
Joint pain/stiffness (1 in 4, usually young women)
Low platelet count/bleeding (1 in 30,000)
Severe adverse effects may include:

Allergic reaction (less than 1 per million)
Long-term seizure, brain damage, or deafness (so rare that the association with the vaccine is questionable)

Now I'll post the dangers of the diseases this vaccine helps prevent.

Quote:
Measles is a virus which causes a rash, cough, runny nose, eye irritation, and fever in most people, but can also lead to pneumonia, seizures, brain damage, and death in some cases.

Mumps virus causes fever, headache, and swollen glands, but can also lead to deafness, meningitis, swollen testicles or ovaries, and death in some cases.

Rubella, also known as the German Measles, is generally a mild disease, but can cause serious birth defects in the child of a woman who becomes infected while pregnant.

Please do more research before you make a decision out of fear. These diseases are very scary and REAL. I have so far found no link between the MMR vaccine and death. There is death associated with these diseases though. The only danger they mention is autism, and they've found no link between them.

I plan to vaccinate Mika against them if my doctorthinks that it is safe due to me having epilepsy. Personally i wouldn't be able to handle the guilt if she was to get one of those illnesses because i read a few stories with not alot of evidence on the internet
