I recently got drawn into a debate
involving the potential dangers of the MMR
vaccine. Because I had too much time on my
hands, I ended up digging through the
literature and producing a comprehensive
analysis of the pros and cons of
vaccinating. I thought this might be of
interest.
I'm formatting this into a PDF, so if
anyone's dying for a printer-pretty copy,
just give me a few days.

Thanks for sharing. All of know this is a
pretty controversial and touchy subject.
It is my thought that although there may
be some alleged problems with the
vaccines, it is more important to keep the
disease that it prevents at bay. The idea
of vaccines is a very good one.
I face the hard decision to get my
children vaccinated all the time. I have
6 children and that is a lot of shots!
The small risk involved is better to take
than the larger one of having them
contract a disease which would either
severely retard them or kill them.
Now that people are afraid to vaccinate,
because of thimerosol (which is no longer
included in the shots except for the flu
shots, which I do not believe in getting
because the flu is non-life threatening in
most cases), measles is on the rise once
again. And yet, Autism continues to rise
without the use of the scapegoat
thimerosol. Who knows?
I don't know if the government should have
the right to choose to make us vaccinate,
and we still do have that choice (no one
can MAKE you do it) but I am of the firm
belief that some people need to educate
themselves about proper health care and
hygiene, which is something that even this
country still lacks.
