3 months no period Posted: 04-25-08 18:49pm
I'm 19. Haven't had a period in 3 months
taken a lot of pregnancy tests and all
have been negative. I'm gaining odd weight
around my stomach that my husband pointed
out the other day made it look like i was
pregnant and it freaked him out cause of
the whole no period thing. My boobs have
been tender I cant lay on my stomach
because of them some nights, i'm more
tired then usual.
I have no insurance, or an ID so I cant go
to a doctor or free clinic (i'm working on
getting an id but it could be another
couple weeks before I have it and i'm just
wanting some insight)
Is it possible i'm pregnant even though
tests are negative? and should i start
taking care of my body better until I see
a doctor (only bad habit I have is smoking
cigs and not getting a good amount of
vitamins.)

You have not had a period for 3 months.
Have taken tests, and have come back
negative.
You have no ID or insurance..
Try another test, are you taking it with
your first morning urine?
Stop smoking, because it sounds like you
could indeed be pregnant.
I was going to say go to a doctor, but get
your ID first and head right to a doctors
office.
Take materna for now just incase you are
pregnant, its vitamins for the baby.

I have heard the pregnancy tests are very
accurate, but it sounds as though you
could be pregnant. Either way, no period
for 3 months, you need to see a doctor.
Good Luck - Hope the ID comes soon!

I know there are some free clinics that
don't ask for ID, at least in the city
here (I just read a book about street kids
in NYC and they talked about how they
never had ID cards and lost it along the
way but there were free clinics who would
take them in and youth centers with
doctors that would check them out).
Maybe your area has a clinic like that?
If not, I would get your ID right away.
If you have had an ID card in the past, go
to your DMV and tell them you lost it.
They'll print you out a new one that day.
Also, if you go to a doctor and explain
you don't have an ID card but you have
another form of ID such as a birth
certificate or SS card, he may take you.
I'm not sure if you are pregnant or not,
but either way you should probably see a
doctor because not having a period for 3
months could be a sign of another problem
if you aren't pregnant.
Good luck!

Pregnancy tests can be false negative or
positive, which is why going to the
doctors to get a blood test done would be
in her best intrest, although she has to
wait for her ID to come in...
Meklia, does your husband have health
insurance? Could you not go to the doctor
with his insurance if you are a married
couple...like work health benefits or
something like that...Could you not just
try going down to a clinic and explaining
your situation to a nurse or doctor?

I saw a doctor last night.
On another fourm (i cross posted to get
more info and such) they recomened going
to the ER and explaining that i thought i
may be pregnant. They did a urine test it
was negative. They refused to do a blood
test for whatever reason. Found out I have
a really bad Urinary tract infection, and
i asked if that could affect my period and
I was told it couldnt. So now i'm left
wondering whats wrong with me.. I've got a
free appointment with a family practioner
(by law they have to see you at least once
for follow up) and i'll sk about it then
and see what they think may be wrong.

What reason did they give you?
Go back and demand a blood test, because
you need to know.
That is ridiculious. If i were you, i
would have been like, well what am i
suppose to do? I could be pregnant, and
your not even going to tell me?
UTI [urinary tract infection] my doctor
told me is common while pregnant and as
long as its treated has no effect on the
baby. If not treated you could go into
early labour.

Well, if they don't think your pregnant
they're probably right. - Did they explain
why you were missing your periods? Were
you trying to get pregnant? Were you using
any protection? If so then I would def
get a second opinion at the follow up
appointment with the family practioner
Good luck!

It just seems odd though, i mean before i
had my family doctor i went to a walk in
clinic, i had taken a pregnancy test the
night before [i was 5 days late] and it
came out positive, so i went to make sure
i was 100% pregnant from a doctor with my
sister inlaw.
They first, did a urine test, and it
wasn't reading right away.
Then, they did a blood test right after.
Why wouldn't the ER do this for her too?

The ER wont normally do a blood pregnancy
test to confirm a pregnancy if she doesn't
have a positive urine test, or has not had
a positive home test. Because they would
be doing them all the time. They will
normally only do a blood pregnancy test if
you had a positive home test and begin
bleeding.
You probably have a cyst. Cysts can (and
will) delay your period. They also produce
some of the same hormones (progesterone)
that cause pregnancy symptoms.
The only way to treat them is with birth
control. So, your doctor will probably
order a transvaginal ultrasound to confirm
a cyst. Then prescribe you the pill.
Were you trying to get pregnant? If so,
there may be other options then the pill.
PM me and I'll explain things further, if
you would like.
