Hi All: I was wondering if you all could
help me with my 12mo. old. He seems to
not be able to eat anything chunkier than
the pureed baby foods.
He was started on the baby food at 6 mo.
and does great with them (when he is
hungry...right now though it seems like he
doesn't want any meals...he has just
started getting really fussy about eating
ANYTHING at all---I hope this is just a
stage where he is not growing right
now)...but...i digress....
I can't seem to get anything down in him
that isn't pureed. I have tried arrowroot
cookies where he choked and I had to give
him back blows and turn him over to
dislodge it, I have tried bits of ground
beef, noodles, and even today I tried
scrambled eggs...every single time he
starts to choke and then vomits up his
whole meal.
I am at the point where I am so scared to
give him anything that isn't pureed. I
don't dare even try the things that other
people say they are giving their 10 to12
mo. olds...like toast, bread, rice,
bananas, etc...although he has been able
to take cream of chicken soup but then the
chicken pieces that are larger, I usually
cut up to very very small size.
Can anyone help me...is this normal?
Should I be worried?
Or...is it just a developmental thing and
he is NOT ready for more chunkier foods
yet...
He never did learn how to crawl and is
just standing up now with
assistance.--although I don't think that
has any bearing on his eating problems.
Oh..and he often gags with juice in those
sippy cups and then coughs...like it has
gone down the wrong way or something.
again, I don't know if this has any
relation to his swallowing problems.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks. Sue.

I am sorry if I have offended anyone for
asking a question within a post that was
about what their children eat!!!!
I didn't realize that these posts are not
conversational....and I really didn't mean
to step on Jenniek's toes.
If anyone has any help for me, besides
telling me to talk to my Dr. I would very
much appreciate other mothers' feelings or
thoughts on my issue. I realized that
maybe I should have started a new thread
but when I read the posting topic it
sounded like it pertained to my problem
also and since I am no EXPERT on these
types of sites, I assumed that it was ok
to ask another question within someone
else's question...it seemed to me she was
satisfied with her replies and I don't
think I was stealing anything away from
her.
Again...so sorry that I made this
mistake...I have learned...but...I still
have this problem and wish that someone
could help and give me some good advice.
Thank you all so very much.

Don't worry about it Suzie. I think the
best thing to do is to talk to your son's
doc
