I've been on the pill for about 10 years now off and on and I've noticed my PMS has gotten out of control in the past year or two. I'm 28 and miss the days when I could breeze through a 2 day period like nothing. Now one minute I want to choke someone and the next I'm bursting into tears in the middle of the grocery store for no reason at all. What I'm wondering is, should I change pills? I've been on Yasmin since 2001 and love it but is this what's causing my severe mood swings?

BC pills CAN cause severe mood swings. Hormones are very much a part of our moods and emotional well being, and birth control IS adding extra hormones to our delicate mix. I cannot use hormones because they cause me terrible mood swings, so I use a NON HORMONAL IUD, paragard. There may be a pill out there that can meet your needs, but you do need to consult with your doctor
