moving disk or condyle away from their place
Posted: 04-01-08 01:03am

hi i have a question is it possible to displace the condyle or diks
i mean for example with a pressure we move the condyle(joint) 1 centimeter backward or toward down
i have heard that its not possible to displace joint just with a shoot of gun or something like this we can displace and move the joint is this right?

and also i want to know about disk does the disk stick to the fossa or it is movable along fossa? because i have heard that disk is so tight that we cant move it in other hand i have heard that disk is movable?!!

and what if the joint turn more than its limit toward up or down
does the disk move or something and whats the cure if somebodys jaw
turn more than its limit toward up?
tank u if u share ur knowlege with me about this

it is possible to displace the disk or condyle. but it probably would take more than you think it would. our jaws are pretty tough even though we dont think they are because of the pain. I wouldnt worry too much about this. what you are describing i dont think would be enough to do much except hurt a little

hi tmddyan i think u didnt understand my question i want u to notice carefully about what i said
i think when we say displaced disk or condyle in fact it mean misfunction or bad function of condyle or disk when we open and close mouth.
i mean something different i mean we displace the condyle form its normal place
is it possible?
and whats ur idea about when condyle turn in its place clockwise more than its limit.
what will be hurt in this condition muscle ligament disk or somethihg else and what is the result?

no i understood and yes it is possible. the jaw is stronger than you think it is. it would take a lot to displace the disc and the condyle. If you mean to function bady, it takes alot of time to get it to that point. Years of it being displaced and used in the displaced position. being "pounded" by the condyle etc. I had displaced discs. they rested in front of the condyle. If you go more than the limit you would have to stretch the muscles and ligiments further than necessary to open and would eventually cause tearing of the muscles. but again this would be a lot of force to do this. there would also be a lot of pain.

ok tank u i think we talk about my problem befor
with a force i turn my right condyle a little in its postion clockwise
for about 2 month my jaw was Asymmetric and after that my left condyle get the shape of my right condyle to some extent. but now my jaw is alittle toward up and front like a clockwise turn. in this days i have some pain in my right condyle i dont know what is happening whats is ur idea ?
will my jaw and condyles back to normal with pasting of time? because this problem cause a undesirable facial change for me as i said my jaw look a little upper and front and cause my jaw look smaller than it should be
and the way that my teeth fit together change after this force.
i will be happy if u say ur idea about my problem.

What are you doing or i should say what happened that your jaw went into this position? It could go back with time, but most of the time you need to get it treated. what other symptoms do you have? any clicking, poping etc? get some ice on it and alternate with heat. take some anti inflamitories and get back to me.

i think i have said how my jaw hit befor i do a floosh thing and put a metall thing on my last molar and put my jaw alittle forward and try to close my mouth i do this for someother porpuse i never think that i might turn my jaw!
anyway after i
approximate my eye teeth on eachother and hold this condition for some second i feel my condyle move alittle and after i release the pressure my jaw was motionless and alittle painfull.
the symptoms that i have during this 2.5 month was just clicking for sometimes not always nothing else happen and as i said during this time my left condyle get the shape of my right condyle to some extent and this days i feel some pressure on my jaw and also some pain on my condyles.
i have gone to many doctors but because i dont have any serious syptoms like poping serius pain and... they dont satisfied me . the thing that bother me is facial change that doctors may never notice it because the havent seen me befor
anyway whats ur idea in this condition do u think my jaw become normal in this king of pressure that i put by pasting of time?

ah now i remember. I think that your jaw could become better if you went and got it treated. you should find a tmj doctor in your area and go to him. If the doctor is a good doctor he will notice anything that is wrong with you and make a plan to fix it.

hi tmddyan i come again
i visited some doctor but i didnt get my answer they was unable to help me after i explain about what i did i got different respond some of them said its not possible!
some of them refuse to except that my jaw shap change!
some of them say that i might pull muscle or ligament and it will back to normal after times but they wasnt sure when saying this!
im confused.
i think this thing that i did to myself is a new thing that no body has any opinion about that
im worry about this and need ur suggestion
i just need information about tmj structure then i can myself get some result about whether my jaw back to normal or not.
u exactly know how i put pressure on my jaw joint.
with that pressure i move the bone .
does my disk move in this case?
in what case the disk move because u say that the disk is so tight and wont move easily.
as i know there is cartilage around tmj and my joint turn into this cartilage.
this are all the thing that can imagine about what i did.
do u think that i pull muscle and ligament?
in all i just want to get some result myself please help me and give ur opinion
i think i myself should solve this problem and there is no doctor that have any cure for this.
please help me and give ur opinion

other thing that i forgot to say i use brace and this days i feel some kind of pressure to my jaw and tmj
is it possible that my jaw place in a position that force my tmj to move toward left or right i dont mean turning i mean completly move toward right or left in other hand become closer to my ear and stay in its new position permanetly and for always?

yes it is possible to do that --you would need a neuro mcuscular dentist. a lot of doctors dont know a whole lot about tmd. often they just say that its in our heads and hope it goes away. Im not sure of where you are but would you consider going to the states to have treatment?

no i cant go to state
if that is possible as my eye teeth try to come front with brace i feel some pressure in my face that try to turn my jaw to its normal positon but i think it coudnt and instead of that push my right tmj toward back and near my ear.
i wonder all this thing are possible without anypain and poping r u sure about that?
and if this is right i might confront a permanent change in my jaw joint is it possible?
i think useing brace in this state is another problem because brace also move the jaw and try to fit in a proper position.
dont u think if l wait until my ortodentsy finish i see what is what and after that my jaw back to normal?

yes im worried because im affraid that after this pressure and finishing use of brace my jaw joint rest in a different position than it should be and another thing that worry me is facial change that i got after this pressure.

by the way something that is too important for me is u say that the jaw joint may move toward left and right
i saw some photo of tmj skull and as i saw the condyle rest in the arch of the upper bone(fossa) i think there is no way for condyle to move toward left or right and if the condyle move toward left it it will go to our ear because its exactly near ear.
and i think the onlyway that we can displace the condyle is turning it or pull it toward down.

would u pls completly explain this to me for the last time.

it sounds like--if im understanding you right --that the condyle is dislocated? if that is the case you should have a doctor put it back in position. you should be able to move your jaw in any of the natrual positions---could you pm me this photo of your jaw so that i can better understand?

hi today i understand something
the pressure that i put to my jaw wasnt so seroius
i put this pressure 3 month ago but i didnt made it warm and because the weather was cold that days it become cold and made it worse and cause my other condyle move and also the cocdyle that i pressued get worse i think if i warm my joint from the first day it got better in 1 week
i dont think that my condyles are dislocated they just have pulled and stay in a different position
now that i didnt warm them and let them become worse can i be hopefull that they get better if i warm they from now.

i meant that the disk can take more damage than you think it can its tougher than you think--honestly the best thing is for you to get to a doctor and be persistant and not take no for an answer. the disc is supposed to move with your jaw and follow the condyle down--its supposed to do that
