I'd just like to ask if anyone on this
forum knows what Grade 3 on an MRI means
as mine says Grade 3 in something which I
didn't get to see what it was as the
physiotherapist didn't let me read it.
The MRI has been read out to me by someone
else and says that I have a prolapsed disc
and degeneration at the L2/L3 region of my
spine.

Did they say grade 3 spondylolisthesis
this condition is when one vertebra has
slipped forward in relation to the
vertebra below it there are five grades
grade 5 is the worst. It is due to a
fracture of the pars Interarticularis at
the rear of the vertebra. Prolapsed means
ruptured if you didnt know.
Sometimes the results of radiology tests
have been kept from me i don't think much
of docs who do this but it is common.

Thanks for your help and advice, rollar64.
I'm not sure what it said Grade 3 was in
on the MRI. It could've been
spondylolisthesis or even the prolapsed
disc.
I've requested copies of the report so if
they let me have it, I'll let you know
what it says. It'll probably take them a
while to send me the copies.

Here is what my MRI report says as I
managed to get a copy.
MRI of spine (lower): There is disc
degeneration at L2/L3 level with a
Schmorl's node and annular bulging. The
degeneration would appear to be Grade 3.
The remaining discs appear normal. There
is no evidence of facet osteoarthritis.
The sacroiliac joints are normal. There is
no evidence of nerve root compression and
all foramina are normal. The conus is
normal.

Hi ds your MRI report doesnt sound that
bad at least it only shows problems at one
level, a schmorl's node is when the tough
outer coating of the disc bursts open, and
penetrates into the top or bottom of the
vertebral body.
Good luck DS

Can Schmorl's nodes be treated as when I
went to the hospital they didn't even
mention that I had a Schmorl's node?
