About 6 weeks ago I had a episode whereby
I had numbness/tingling and a sort of
weakness, (is the best way i can describe
it) down my left arm and leg. I also
suffered from dizziness and a lack or
co-ordination, and suffered from blurred
vision and twitching in my left eye. This
all happened out the blue, before this my
general health was fine. I was sent for an
MRI scan and blood tests and after 6 weeks
I have finally got my results, which have
left me even more confused, and the
doctors don't seem to letting on to what
they think it might be. The symtoms
haven't eased and have pretty much stayed
the same over the last 6 weeks, and
doesn't seem to be linked to any
particular activity.
The brain scan came back clear but at C3/4
vertebrae they found hypertensive lesions
and a raised level of Serum ACE. I've been
googling for the last few hours and with
not much luck, but a few sites mentioned
MS, so here I am.
I am being sent for a lumbar puncture
asap, but could be waiting for another 6
weeks to get the results, so I wanted to
find out whether these are symtoms of
MS??
MS can't be confirmed only according to
the symptoms. MS can be manifested with
various symptoms (including yours) but
those symptoms could indicate MS only if
disappear and show up again. Remission and
relapses of the neurological symptoms are
typical for MS. Diagnosis of MS should be
also confirmed with:
1. MRI/CT scan of the brain -
demyelinisating plaques should be
detected;
2. lumbar puncture - increased antibodies
and lymphocytes should be detected in the
liquor, and
3. evocate sensory potentials-test.
There is nothing you can do but to wait
for the results.
