Hi folks!
Well he is here...in all his glory. Myles Denis Repta arrived on Aug 30th at 4:45am, weighing 7lbs 14oz and 56 cm long. So much for the 10 pounder eh?
My contractions woke me up on Friday Aug 29th at 5am...they felt like menstrual camps...I was confused as this being my first, I wasn't sure what I was feeling. I went back to sleep as they were not strong. Friday was spent lounging etc...no more cramps. But by 5pm they started again. I Googled contractions (OMG how desperate) and it told me that what I was feeling was indeed contractions. You see...Thurs I had my appt with the DR and she checked me and found that I was 1.5 cm dilated. She also confirmed that his head was facing down. I bled that day, so I thought what I was feeling was a result of my Dr checking my cervix. I was wrong!
Anyway...by 10:30 Friday evening, I called my Dr and said that I was in labor. She said to wait and call her back when they were 5 mins apart and 1 minute long. They got fast and furious and I was on my way to the hospital by 2am. When I got there, the nurse in admitting said that I looked way to happy to be in labor. I just told her it was a long time coming!!
Anyway...up on the bed I went...they checked me and I was 5 cm dilated. Then they gave me an ultrasound to check the baby's position...the tech said "I can't find the heartbeat". I totally freaked out. But then she said..."I'm seeing a foot when I should be seeing a head". So that is why there wasn't a heartbeat...because the little bugger had flipped into breech position in less than 24 hrs!! I was very upset that I had to have a c-section. So off I went to the O.R.
The important thing is that he is here safe and sound..and he is lovely.
We are all adjusting. Sleep deprivation is not fun...but I love him to pieces.
