My dog has worms
Posted: 05-18-08 21:20pm

After getting better last week from diarehha, Roxy now has worms. I seen it this moring in her feces. It really freaked me out. It's white and flat and it was moving in her feces. I have the chills just thinking about it. IDK what's going on with her. I just want her to be healthy. She still is in a good mood. She happy, we ran together back to the house after taking her out tonight. I had wondered why she was always wanting to eat soo much. I'm just really down because we're tying to move and the money that we saving up it going towards Roxy's health. I love her to death and i jusrt want ehr to get better. Tomorrow I'm calling the vet to see what's up with that. IDK if it's something caused because she recently has diarehha. Can someone pls comfort me about this and let me know she'll be okay. I know she can possibly die in most serious cases.

I called the vet and they gave me a pill to kill the worms. I really hope it works as it suppose to. She said she could've swallowed a flea so i bought the flea pills that last for 30 days. My dog is always scratching even after baths. IDK if it's fleas that she has that bad or if she just have bad skin.

Thanks Dyan for your response.

Deffinately call the vet and see what they suggest. She'll be ok but she needs to be de-wormed. Have you had her tested for other parasites such as heart worms? The reason I ask is because not only are heart worms deadly if left untreated, but also if she does have heart worms and you give her certain types of de-wormers, even intestinal wormers, it can cause lung and heart problems. When hubby and I found Boudreaux, we took him to the vet and the lady asked does he have worms? We said we were not sure as we had only found him recently, but he was emaciated so we did suspect it. She then asked if we had given him any type of de-wormer? We said no, and she said ok good because de-wormers can have adverse reactions with heart worms! As it turned out Boudreaux was positive for both intestinal and heart worms. He was fine of course, he just had to stay at the vets office for a few days for treatment. Anyways...point is, if you haven't had her fully tested do so soon and begin using monthly prevenitives. Also, regarding your money situation, alot of vets will set it up so that you can pay them in monthly installments, so its worth asking about. Good luck!

Thanks for your respsonse LeLe.

I had her tested in January. They suggest testing her once a year. I will def invest in worm preventatives and flea preventatives. Her bill wasn't as high as I thought it would be from her last visit when she had to stay over night last week. Everything worked out okay. I just want her to stay healthy!

I dont know where in to world he could have got the tape worm, my vet said it is from eating something else infected with it, but not poop( Which Tank enjoys Sad ) she said maybe fleas he ate, but he has never had fleas since I had him.

THe only thing I could come up with is that he has had the tapework since before I got him. Poor thing probably had them for over half his little life.
