For the past 3 years of my life, I've put
my education on hiatus, whilst trying to
assimilate with common society. During
this time, I have been unsure about many
things in my life, but it seems that there
has at the very least been one constant
truth: I want to do something meaningful
and beneficial; I want to help people and
make a difference, leaving a lasting
impression on this planet.
As cliche as it may be, this is the one
thing I am one-hundred and ten percent
sure about, and such certainty extends far
beyond the shadow of any possible doubt.
One way or another, I will accomplish
this. I will make this happen, and I will
let nothing get in my way. I've lived
these past 3 years to their fullest, and
have seen many things, and met many
people... and I can safely say that I
would be utterly disgusted with myself if
I could not possibly find a way to devote
my life to bettering our society in some
way, shape, or form --as it desperately
needed.
With that said, I hope you fully
understand the seriousness with which I
post this topic; a topic about someone who
has, as of late, been thinking about
pursuing a career in the medical field.
I am now 21, and I have been thinking
about this for several months now, and am
hoping to hear from those who are either
currently pursuing or already have a
career in the medical field. I have many
questions so feel free to answer as many
as you so desire... any and all answers
are greatly appreciated.
Questions:
1) What made you want to become a doctor?
2) What did you major/minor in as an
undergraduate?
3) Did you go to a technical college
before the university? If so, what
classes did you take to help prepare you
for it, and your path to med school?
4) What med school did you go to? How
hard was it to get accepted?
5) How old were you when you began your
residency? How difficult was it for you
to fit in and adapt to the setting and
find your niche?
6) What was the most difficult thing,
emotionally speaking, that you had to deal
with while in residency? How did it
affect you, and what did you learn from
it?
As I said, any answers will be greatly
appreciated. Thanks for your time.
