nasal congestion treatment

I'm a teenage girl, and for as long as I can remember, I've always had to clear my throat alot more often then everyone else. I've been drinking alot of water, that seems to help my congestion a bit but not my throat. I think that I may have phlegm on my vocal chords, but I've never coughed anything up. I sometimes feel junk in the back of my nose, but no matter how hard I blow it, it won't come out, so I swallow it.

I have an appointment to the allergist in a couple weeks, and I'm not sure what to do in the meantime. Antihistimines are tempting, but I sing, and those things dry out the vocal chords. I don't even know if I have allergies or not, I just always have to clear my throat. Is it phlegm or is something inflammed? I don't know.

Do you have nasal drainage in the back of your throat or you are just bothered with the feeling that something is stuck in your throat and you need to clean it frequently?
Have you suffered from sinusitis recently?

I think it's nasal drainage, since I feel the junk when I swallow.

Whats sinusitis?

Sinusitis is an inflammation of one or more of the nasal sinuses, air filled hollow cavities within the cheek bones found around the eyes and behind the nose.
It usually occurs with some inflammation of the nose, referring to as rhinosinusitis (rhino-nose). It usually develops as a complication of a viral respiratory infection, flu and common cold.

Do you feel facial pain and pressure especially in the forehead, temples, cheeks, nose and behind the eyes?
Do you have nasal obstruction or congestion?
Are you experiencing accompanied headache?
What about sore throat and coughing?
