Neck pain, Headaches, Forward head posture

I wonder if you could help me out.

I recently attended a seminar where I heard that many chiropractors are very alarmed that “computer posture” and students’ wearing heavy backpacks to and from school has made what is called “Forward Head Posture Syndrome” into an international epidemic and that a lot of headache and neck pain are a direct result of F.H.P.

Does your experience support this? Do you see a lot of F.H.P.? What do you find as the best treatment? Do you think F.H.P. is increasing and prevalent with younger people?

I appreciate your professional input. Dennis

I'm a physio and there is certainly some truth in what you have posted.
We see more and more spinal problems that are linked with poor posture.
When I trained it was rare to see a child/ teenager with back pain, but it is not at all unusual now
The best advice is to follow good spinal care - think about your posture, make sure your desk and PC is set up well, take frequent breaks.
Children should lug as little around with them as possible and carry what they do have to in a backpack worn over both shoulders - however "uncool" that is
