Hello I am15 years old and I am 9 weeks
pregnant I am thinking about adoption to
make sure that my kid grows up and has
everything that iot needs and more.... I
was wanting to know if I needed the dad's
permission to give it up if in the end I
decided to... I really want my own baby
but I don't know if I could raise it how I
want it to be raised...
If you know of this it would be gretaly
apprectaited... Just in case the laws are
different in place I live in Ohio...

my sister just gave up her baby and the
father wasn't involved at all. It was all
done in Ohio too! (birth, adoption)
someone from school, shes just like my
mum. my mum passed away when me and my
sister were young my dad was an alcoholic
then he stopped. until he had a heart
attack and started drinking again my elder
sister moved out and left me with him
where he became violent. i then moved to
my uncles then from there went to my
friends now im living with someone from
school. i was just wondering if i wanted
them to adopt me would they have to have
my dads permission?

No. YOUR dad's permission will NOT be
needed to place your child for
adoption....but the baby's father MUST
sign away his rights for an adoption to
take place.
Adoptions where father's rights are
bypassed (although they happen) are NOT
legal or ethical. Agency's are required by
law to notify fathers or possible father's
of adoptions and have them WILLINGLY sign
TPR's. Agency's which conduct ILLEGAL
adoptions should be avoided at all costs.
Cases where children have been removed
from adoptive homes...months or even years
later....are cases where illegal
adoption's occurred....and the father's
rights were violated. To bypass a father's
rights to his child is both illegal and
unethical.
Please think long and hard about this life
long decision. There are many resources
available for ethical adoptions but there
are also an overwhelming number of
resources available for girl's in your
situation to help them parent....not only
do they have resources for pregnancy
help....medical care....WIC....but they
also have resources for YOU which pay for
housing AND schooling (ie. college) to
help you get on your feet.

Yes, the father does need to give his
permission in order for the baby to be
adopted. There may be other laws involved
since you are a minor, so I recommend
speaking to an adoption agency and/or
lawyer to make sure those laws are
followed so the adoption goes smoothly.
On a side note, I admire your decision.
Adoption is an extremely hard decision and
your clearly a mature young woman who
wants the best for her baby.
